• Chicago man wears Packers tie to work, is promptly fired
From Chicago's WGNtv.com comes the unfortunately real story of a Chicago car salesman who was fired because he wore a Green Bay Packers tie to work. And making it even worse, the man wore it because his grandma was a Packers fan who had recently died and was buried two days before her beloved team's NFC Championship game matchup with the Chicago Bears.

John Stone said that when he showed up at work, general manager Jerry Roberts called him over to his office and then ordered him to take off the Packers tie or else he would be fired. Stone said he thought Roberts was joking and went back to work. An hour later, Stone said, Roberts came to the showroom floor and again demanded he take off the tie. When he didn't, he was fired, Stone said. "I didn't know you could get fired for wearing a tie," said Stone, 34, of Chicago's Roseland neighborhood. "I'm supposed to dress up. I'm a car salesman."
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Chicago-man-wears-Packers-tie-to-work-is-prompt?urn=nfl-311976
I guess his manager couldn't bear to see him wearing that tie.
I didn't even notice anything special about the tie. Hell i bet most people won't even notice it's a packers tie and why would they care. Expect his faggot manager that is.
people should be able to wear whatever they want
Isn't there laws against this?
Isn't there laws against this?
Undoubtedly the guy will file for unlawful termination
I'm from chicago, if you want to get your ass beaten with a baseball bat then go ahead and wear a cheesehead.
I'm from chicago, if you want to get your ass beaten with a baseball bat then go ahead and wear a cheesehead.
It's just a fucking sports team.
Maybe his boss hated this guy and was looking for any excuse to get rid of him?
A sports team? He was fired for wearing a tie from another team? That's pathetic.
On one end, you can understand the GM's thinking. They do have a deal with the Bears for advertsing and people might be a little pissed to see a man supporting the Packers after their team had lost. But still, you talk it over with the guy for a minute or so, you express your issue and you reach an agreement. You don't just go over there and fire him over it. He tried to avoid bad publicity, and in doing so, caused much more bad publicity.
I'm just surprised his boss didn't say "Pack your shit and get out of here."
Piss poor excuse to fire an employee.
It's just a fucking sports team.
You can put everything like that, oh they were just some people i didn't know that was killed in an airport bombing, w.e.
You can put everything like that, oh they were just some people i didn't know that was killed in an airport bombing, w.e.
You're really comparing the russian airport bombing to a sports team. Really. You really want to go there? Repeat that to yourself, it sounds fucking heartless.
You can put everything like that, oh they were just some people i didn't know that was killed in an airport bombing, w.e.
Yeah, that's definitely a relatable example. :downs:
You can put everything like that, oh they were just some people i didn't know that was killed in an airport bombing, w.e.
but it's a fucking sport..
You can put everything like that, oh they were just some people i didn't know that was killed in an airport bombing, w.e.
The stupid hurts me!!
He should've at least known something might happen. The Bears/Packers rivalry is like the Yankees/Red Sox. If you wear yankee apparel in Boston I'm sure youll get some negative attention. Getting fired is still pretty fucked up though.
Hope the dude sues that former boss.
Just send him home for a day, don't be an arse.
I thought DADT got repealed
A properly executed gay joke on Facepunch holy shit
