HAMILTON, Ontario — Cell phone video of two Hamilton cops arresting a woman for shoplifting has gone viral and has people applauding the officers’ professional and patient response to the public.
Officers Mark Morelli and Chantelle Wilson attempted for several minutes to subdue a woman who screamed and thrashed about as onlookers gathered, questioning why the police were arresting her.
Once Morelli placed the woman in the back of his squad, he caught his breath and explained to the crowd why they took the actions they did.
[..]
Hamilton media relations officer Debbie McGreal-Dinning confirmed that the woman is currently facing criminal charges, according to the Hamilton Spectator, but could not elaborate, citing the service’s policies against commenting on ‘domestic incidents.’

Duh?
Not all cops are cocksuckers.
so cops lawfully arest woman, woman screams goes crazy, then cops have to drag her to the car, then when cops try to explain the people go crazy not letting him explain....
The cameraman is such a tool.
"She's just a weak girl, let her go!"
Yeah, she's female, therefore weak AND shouldn't be held accountable for her own crimes somehow?
That woman getting arrested needs to shut the fuck up.
What a dumb bitch. Look at her make every excuse saying he's hurting her in every single way.
The guy with the camera is even more retarded.
Also, at 3:07 it appears she waves to some kind of accomplice maybe. Maybe a friend also shop lifting watching her get arrested?
"I DIDN'T STEAL ANYTHING"
*clothes with price tags fall out*
I wish this happened, and then she would keep screaming.
That woman was a bitch.
Nothing was wrong, she was screaming and whaling the whole time like she was being raped. The officer was barely holding her down and she was acting like he had severely damaged her body.
I'm pretty annoyed that people kept pestering the cops when they were giving calm and straight answers throughout the thing.
The cameraman is a fucking chode.
Seems like the people filming were being big douchers not letting him explain and trying to talk over him.
"What if she broke her everything"
is the cameraman for real?
Cameraman is a dickhead too.
Looks like they were digging for a violent reaction to later show how violent cops are
i'm surprised nobody's made a canada joke yet
poor humor aside, cop didn't have to do any of that. smart, and decent of him to take the extra minutes after an arrest to explain to onlookers. defuses any viral video before it starts, calms a crowd, helps the police force in the long run, and makes people feel more secure in their local security.
i mean it's kind of gross that so many people film every arrest they see. you just know that half of them care nothing about the situation, only hoping to capture a juicy moment of perceived brutality for attention's sake
quoth anybody from the Wire, "Good po-lice."
The amount of screaming, fussing and struggling that girl did seemed faaaar out of proportion to the amount of 'harm' those two officers appeared to be causing her. If she hadn't resisted, there wouldn't be cause for a crowd to gather and start acting like they know what's going on.
Also, all of the "she's a girl how could youuu" shit the crowd was spewing is pretty douche-y imo.
"What if she broke her everything"
is the cameraman for real?
Well that'd be impressive, to say the least.

AWH SHHIT I WASN'T STEALING I WAS TRYING TO FIND A CURE
IN THESE PURSES
THAT I DIDN'T PAY FOR
that hurt my ears
i had to turn up to hear the officer talking but it just made the screams more piercing...
That woman is stupid for acting and trying to get the cops in trouble.
That cameraman is also pretty dumb for trying to reason with the fact that it's a girl.
"Girls can't resist arrest you dumb cop."

Nice catch.
A lot of cops really hate arresting women, this is part of the reason why.
Oh hey my city in SH. Cool.

The cameraman totally escalated the situation, he should have just let the cops do their job.
It really bothers me when people cry wolf like this, they where clearly just trying to get out of the situation by screaming as if they were getting full on assaulted. That shit needs to be reserved for legitimate police abuse.
If she's under arrest then the force necessary (Which wasn't that much mind you) to put her under arrest can be used. Period. It's not the officer's fault she broke the law. Some laws you can have a bit of officer's discretion because there's a bit of a grey area, but some laws are the complete opposite
That officer tried to explain, and was extremely honest about it. Most officers won't explain shit, not because they're assholes, but because like the guy in this video, won't care what you say, he's already not going to budge from his opinion
I think everyone should be made to put someone in handcuffs that doesn't want to be in cuffs at least once, then maybe they'll understand. What are police supposed to do? Ask politely if they'll surrender themselves, and then walk away when they say No?

*Woman is thrashing, screaming bloody murder*
Cameraman: That's not resisting!

Dude, are you serious?
I wonder what the cameraman's reaction to all of this is now?
I swear, those people seemed really annoyed that he was being chill with them. Credit where credit is due, mate, and that cop was being chill throughout the whole thing.
That cop handled himself extremely professionally
Cameraman is a cunt, probably the type that if he was arrested for driving 20 above the speed limit he'd shout out that they "should catch REAL criminals"
