• Mountain Lion Trees Bobcat -- On a Saguaro Cactus

So I just got an email from my mom, and one of her friends had just taken some incredible pictures of a bobcat that had been treed by a mountain lion up a saguaro. I was skeptical at first, but this would be some amazing photoshopping. This was the text of the email:
Yesterday morning - a friend called and informed me that a Mountain Lion had chased a Bobcat up a tall Saguaro and that it was still there !! So - with Camera and long lens - I dashed out and this was the result. A once in a life time "Kodak Moment" .......What a beautiful creature. He was quite relaxed, at times napping - just waiting for an opportunity to come back down. That Saguaro was 45- 50' in height, I guess Mr. Mountain Lion didn’t feel it was worth being "harpooned" by those long needles!
Poor thing must have been quite desperate. This is in Tucson, Az. Should I media tag them?
I always wondered if you could get a cat to climb a cactus. I now know.
D'awww :3:
Noclip.
He's probably stuck there, i can only imagine how much it would hurt to get down.
He's probably stuck there, i can only imagine how much it would hurt to get down.
He can probably jump.
Get a ladder and help him down. TAME HIM
I know, it looks really high up. Edit: I know what must be done.
This happened weeks ago. It's fine btw.
This happened weeks ago. It's fine btw.
This totally happened some time this week. Nice fitting avatar you have there, though.
This totally happened some time this week. Nice fitting avatar you have there, though.
Erm. I live in Arizona, I saw this on the news the day it happened. Which was weeks ago.
I guess I've been played for a fool then.
I guess I've been played for a fool then.
It's probably a forward, so when it was created it probably happened the day before. Tbh you have nothing to feel foolish about. :v:
I am obviously not very outdoorsy. If I saw a bobcat outside, I am almost completely sure that I would just assume it to be a large cat. That is, unless it would be as tall as my knee or something.
The cactus club wont be too happy to hear about this.
The cactus club wont be too happy to hear about this.
Neither would the mountain lion club
The cactus club wont be too happy to hear about this.
The Putting Things on Top of Other Things Association will be ecstatic though.
Good to hear it's ok, it's so cute. :3:
Are these 'Mountain Lions' legal to keep as a pet? Cause if I was there, I'd take it and bring it back home.
I'm guessing the term "treed" means climb? Never heard that before.
Erm. I live in Arizona, I saw this on the news the day it happened. Which was weeks ago.
I live in az too. [editline]27th April 2011[/editline]
Are these 'Mountain Lions' legal to keep as a pet? Cause if I was there, I'd take it and bring it back home.
I'd say no, but there are certain breeds of house cats that are as large as a mountain lion.
Are these 'Mountain Lions' legal to keep as a pet? Cause if I was there, I'd take it and bring it back home.
And then you get your face clawed off and it eats your baby.
And then you get your face clawed off and it eats your baby.
I think people invented cages to prevent that.
I'm guessing the term "treed" means climb? Never heard that before.
Yeah, it's slang for being chased up a tree.
I'd say no, but there are certain breeds of house cats that are as large as a mountain lion.

The length of adult males is around 2.4 meters (8 ft) Males typically weigh 53 to 100 kilograms (115 to 220 pounds)
I don't remember ever seeing a normal house cat that is 8ft and 200 pounds.... [editline]27th April 2011[/editline] And you mean Bobcat, not Mountain Lion :v:
Phone animal control or something, in case it's stuck.
I wonder how it does it's business on top of that cactus.....
okay what the fuck are 430 guests doing here? I'm going to assume reddit did it. To a 4 day old thread? :what:
you could have gotten him down and made him your personal pokemon but whatever
Those are some pretty awesome shots, get them to upload them to flickr and send them around. Wait, how are there 420 people reading the thread? The maths don't make sense, there's only like ~100 guests and ~10 members reading. [del]We aren't being referred from anywhere[/del] We're being linked from stumbleupon but then they'd appear as guests so we're missing like 310 people somewhere.
might take some time to update?
