I just got a netbook from a friend and I'm trying to figure out a slot I found on the bottom

Its number 4 on that diagram. Its cooling slots. Thats all fine and cool....but I open that small panel up and I find this

What is that slot for? Gateway tech support claims its for a missing fan but I can't seem to find the fan online anywhere and that would be an awfully weird plug for a fan...even on a netbook.
Mini PCI-Express port.
Fullsize one
I wonder why Gateway wouldn't tell me that...its out of warranty and all so I don't know why he wouldn't just tell me. I was even able to send him that exact photo

Apparently this has the wifi built in...so I'm guessing its for a SSD or somethin...I've never looked into mini pcie and had completely forgotten it existed
Super advanced PCI card controlled fans...? Lol
You could probably add mobile broadband or Bluetooth using it.
