I need a good replacement for a Linksys USB wireless reciever.

I'm stuck with this crappy Linksys USB thing for an internet connection. I only get 54 MPBS, I need something better. The router is in my father's room, but I still get a weak three bar only signal. What would a good replacement for this thing be?
stationary or laptop??
EDIT: If you want a good signal, then stay away from USB receivers, small antenna and limited power limits their range.
If you have a stationary, then i reccommend this one http://www.edimax.com/en/produce_detail.php?pd_id=225&pl1_id=1&pl2_id=44
I was hoping for something external, I think I used up my PCI slot with the huge graphics card.
Also, heading out too radioshack tomorrow if they have something good there.

Anything
I guess not.
54MBPS is the max speed of wireless-G. Unless you have a newer N router you won't be able to get anything faster.

How fast is your internet? Cause I'm using a Linksys receiver to and I only have 1 bar and still getting 10 Mb/s. I'm thinking it's not your receiver it's your internet.

It's the 802.11G maximum speed, you won't get anything even close to it even in optimal conditions.
Expect 15-25Mbps if you are right next to the access point and have good hardware.
Even if you get an XTREME WIRELESS N ADAPTER you aren't going to get more then 20-40Mbps in average conditions.

Turbo G is 108MBPS
ethernet over power. Stable high speed connection (depending on how much you pay). Will most likely be less than buying a good N Router and N reciever

:regd09:
1. Expensive.
2. Tremendously high packet loss statistics.
3. Not high speed at all, i read somewhere that even wireless is faster

Expensive

Sub Par Hardware

Low Bandwidth (30Mbps) if it even works at all

The solution is to install ethernet wires.
Properly installed Ethernet data drops in a house:

I'm going to run cables through my walls and under the house. Fuck wireless shit, it's too slow.
