Alright, I'm not sure what happened here but the little I do know, is that something's really screwed up here.
I'm on Windows XP. When I try to select something on my desktop, I can't. I try to click and drag a selection field, but that just gives me the stop-sign cursor thing.
I can right-click on an empty space and 'create' a new folder or something. When I use folders it's there, but when I look at the desktop, it's actually not.
It's almost as if the desktop itself has frozen.
What do, FP?

Everything else functions as it should do, if that's of interest.
Tried rebooting your PC?
Close explorer and reopen it? Upgrade to Windows 7 and stop using a 10 year old OS?
1) I'm too lazy
2) I tried it just one time so I might aswell just go to sleep right now and check again tomorrow.
Did someone printscreen your desktop and then set it as the wallpaper? :D

Maybe WinXP has worked really well for me over the years?
I don't see why it's necessary to upgrade if this works.

No, otherwise I'd be able to actually make a selection field.
Ugh, rebooting didn't do anything.
I seriously don't know what to do now.

Strange thing is that I'm actually able to select a background image, but after that all the rest of the icons just disappear.
This is strange.

What the actual FUCK
I just checked the 'Sort pictograms' thing when you click RMB.
You know what was there?
"Display icons"
