I just tried Steam, and it sounds like steam... How surprising.
Future programmers; encode musical rhythms into all your EXEs, so when they are converted into sound files, they just play 'kill [minority group]' over and over.
Sounds like my fucked up copy of Pokemon Yellow :v:
What import method did they use? This is awesome. :v:

This works in Audacity, and probably any other audio program that can import raw PCM data. I imported it as* 22050hz 8-bit stereo audio in Adobe Audition, but it seemed to sound mostly the same in Audacity.

Some one remix this.

I can only get it to 16-bit in Audacity though, anyone know how to get it to 8-bit?
Don't forget the remix

fucking ninja
I've been opening a bunch of files with GoldWave to see what they sound like. Interestingly (to me), opening GBA ROM dumps as raw PCM data plays a bunch of static and about halfway, a bunch of stock-sound clips.

Why it struck me as a good idea to import the UDK 32-bit main executable does not occur at this time.
But it certainly was.
I can imagine it now; a game like one of those cthulhu games with the sanity meter, except when you go insane, all audio turns to that, the HUD elements randomly turn to static or move to different positions, models in the world sometimes flash to the 'no texture' checkerboard and back and enemies that aren't really there attack you, decreasing your health as it appears but not your real health, with your health bar even able to start coming out backwards. Oh, and talking to inanimate objects, Malkavian style.
In general just act like the game is broken, not the character, since I don't think insane people perceive themselves as insane, they rather perceive the world around them as insane.
No, you stop.
I just imported Source Shared Models.gcf
It sounded interesting.
Sounds like Aphex Twins
Yeah I showed my friend how to do this about a week ago, I found audacity.exe has a nice Inception BRRRRRRRRR in it, I think it's still in my dropbox.

Minecraft.exe: http://horobox.co.uk/u/Reag_1299814909.mp3
I have no fucking idea.
Ow jesus my fucking ears.
Don't try World of Warcraft.
Explorer sounds interesting, most of it's just static, but towards the end there's this.

Does anybody know what it's interpreting as sound when you import random things into it? Also, can you reconstruct a text file or an image if it's imported?
[editline]10th March 2011[/editline]
I just tested something and it seems to work. You can import a text file as PCM raw data (I used raw and u-law stereo, 11025Hz), save it as a .snd (raw) file, then change its extension back to .txt and read it. Pretty much pointless but cool nonetheless. I would imagine you can do this with any imported file. You could probably use this to transmit files through sound.
I'm assuming it reads it as an uncompressed WAV which is the most straightforward way of encoding audio data.

Itunes sounds pretty cool
What causes such distinct patterns?
Or is it actually really chaotic and we're just wrongly interpreting patterns in it?
This thread destroyed my head.
Have a headache, clicked play
:psyboom:
This must be how they made the music for Flywrench
it just sounds like garbled shit to me
It can make good samples though

Pop it up in Ableton, make sexy music
