• Might be doing an anthropological paper on the Internet

I am taking Cultural Anthropology 101 in college and one of the assignments is field work and a 15 page paper. Field work is when a scientist goes into the area that he or she is studying in order to gain first-hand experience and information about the system. As for me, I don't know how I am going to go about doing this, especially since the Internet is filled with so many different sub-cultures, making it the most diverse place on this planet. Another thing I need to consider is that whatever I study or do must be school appropriate; i.e. I can't go study drug users on the Internet or hate groups that resort to violence (meaning 4chan's /b/ is out of the question). One element that I need to remember is that I need to make sure I pretend to not know anything about the Internet when I am doing my research. I need to be as neutral as humanly possible meaning I don't know what "lolcats" or "web forums" are other than they just exist. My first task is writing a simple one paragraph proposal on my field of study. The problem with this is I don't know where to start or which sub culture to follow, so if anyone can shoot some ideas at me, I would be all open.

That's quite a good idea, writing about the internet's cultures and shit from an insider's perspective.

Most accurate thing would be to kill yourself after page 8.
Also you should mention that over half of the internet consists of porn
