I've recently dug out an old laptop from the basement. There are a lot of good memories stored on there that I don't want to lose. However, I put a password on there and it's been so long I can not remember it at all. The password hint is simply 'alocalbox' which I think has something to do with computers themselves So I'm hoping one of you fellows might be able to help me figure out the password. This is really important to me. I will notify whoever gets the correct password view PM on facepunch for their steam name and I will gift them any $10 game of their choice on steam. Well it looks like it was solved fast
For future lost passwords on Windows, just use Ophcrack. There's a Live CD for Windows 2000/XP and Windows Vista/7/8. In the rare event that doesn't work, "NT Offline Password Recovery" can erase passwords on accounts and unlock them if they're locked. Ophcrack: http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/ NT Offline: http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/ For Windows 9x (95, 98, 98 SE, ME) just press the escape key at the login prompt to bypass it. For Windows NT 3.5x and 4.0, NT Offline may or may not work. You might need to use Bart PE and crack with rainbow tables, which is a huge pain in the ass. Thankfully NT 3.5x and 4.0 are pretty rare dinosaurs these days.
