If you know id, you know they've had issues with ati cards from around doom 3.
Pretty unsurprising to hear Wolf also has issues with ati since Machine is using idtech 5.

Its not really their fault, AMD really really suck at implementing OpenGL properly

I had no idea it was using OpenGL, actually
was thinking i was going to have trouble running this because of what I've been hearing, but near enough maxed out and the FPS is pretty stable now after being a tiny bit choppy near the start.
I've had choppiness in high-intensity situations, but nothing that prevented me from enjoying the game. It largely runs well aside from the well-known texture pop, and that's not even a performance issue for me.
i5-2500k and HD 6850 here. I'm actually pleased with how well it runs.
