The name has been changed to the Noir, because of my black components.
Hey guys I thought I'd make this thread, because this is my first build and build logs seem to be all the rage.
I'm purchasing all the parts from Tiger Direct because I have to pay tax on Newegg.
Parts line-up:
Case: CM Storm Scout
CPU: Phenom 955
PSU: ModXStream 700W
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD5770
Memory: DDR3 1333 Corsair
ODD: LG Burner
HDD: Spinpoint F3 500GB
Mobo: Asus M4A87TD
I'm going to order all the parts on Monday, because I have to first say goodbye to my 13 inch macbook, which my mom's friend is coming tomorrow to pick up.
UPDATE: Switched parts around a bit, now getting the storm scout.
UPDATE2: Desk before computer:

Hopefully I can retain the neatness.
UPDATE3: Found a tiny monitor, hooked up to external video recorder hooked up to Wii.

All the pics on the internet make it look small.
This is an excellent motherboard http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=4965065&sku=A455-2890&srkey=m4a785td-v%20evo
Fits the rest of your hardware perfectly. I have this board and it is very nice.
Btw I'm not recommending this just because I have it.

A bit out of my price range even though it looks great.

Perfect. :D
No case-modding, no build log.
I thought it was "Not spending at least 2 grand, no build log".
Are you sure you want a mini ATX mobo? Remember your case is a mid tower, which was made for the normal ATX form factor.
I suggest you get the 955 instead of the 945, if I recall correctly the difference only costs ya around 5 bucks orso.
Also, get a Samsung spinpoint F3 1TB, you'll get more space for around the same price.

$10 difference. I might do it. Or I could get the OEM 945 for $10 less with an aftermarket cooler and OC it.
Also I heard the F3 is great but I can't really extend my budget too much further.

Storm Sniper supports mATX and it has all the card slots I need. Plus, I can always upgrade.

If you upgrade the mobo you have to reformat your whole hard drive.

and get the 955

YES.
I realized I'm spending way too much on the case, so I'm now getting a cheaper case, the 955, Spinpoint 1tb, and the mobo suggested earlier.
Now the name doesn't fit though :(
Plus I have no idea what case to get.

Good case, sadly it doesn't have any rubber feet. I'm going with the CM690 II and ordering it from amazon.

It has rubber feet. 5% chance it doesn't.
If you got the Scout, he was a paper boy in NJ.

I went through 5 reviews of the Scout, only 3DGameman's review said they were plastic feet, the rest didn't say what material they were.
That'd be a stupid choice if you went with a different case because you assume it has a certain type of feat.

It does though, unless someone can prove it to me that it has rubber feet.
More of a personal preference to have rubber feet.
Can't you put a mat under it or something?

Even if the chances are it doesn't have rubber feet, it won't move anywhere. If that is your problem.
Towers are meant to be stationary. I'm sure they wouldn't put anything on the bottom so it will move around.
[editline]11:35PM[/editline]
especially on a good case like that
It does have rubber feet.
I'm sold.
Gonna order it from amazon though, free shipping ftw.
Also forgot to post earlier, my mom's friend came and picked up his laptop. Now I just need to wait for monday to come around so I can order my parts! :D
Cool.

Actually the scout is meant to move around. It's a LAN case :v:

Not it's not.

I might get the Hades or the Guardian 921 case now that I think about it

EEK
No but seriously I think I'll stick with the Scout. Although I wonder why they have a window on the case when it's meant to be on the floor.

Mostly all good cases have a window on the side.
And yeah, the case is good for LAN parties because of the handle, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have rubber feet to keep it stationary.

True, you can show off your fancy hardware. There are lots of good cases that don't have windows too though, like the CM ATCS 840. Would have gotten that had it been cheaper.
Also I just realized my Wii Fit board (don't ask) has feet with rubber inserts. I can just unscrew the feet and put them under the case.
