Key points * Need a good hard drive for gaming/school 50 - 70 price range 320 - 500 Gb Also will 320 - 500 gb be good enough for running windows 7 + shit load, yes poop load of games good over 20 gb probably 35 if i add gta 4 and also will this do ? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148395 is sea gate bad or is every company good but you'll have to be one lucky bastard to get a good drive with out errors ? I came here hoping for an answer, because well I don't know jack shit about computers
I don't know much about HDDs, but I'll give it a shot. The faster the RPM the faster data is accessed, 3.0gb/s is the transfer rate, 3.5" is the size (this is the usual size and should fit in your case), and bare drive means it comes with little or nothing. I've had pretty good experiences with seagate, and that size should be good for windows and games. That HDD you linked to should be pretty good, but for not much more you can up the size to a terabyte, but that may not be necessary for you.
Yeah, don't listen to other people. Seagate 7200.12s are awesome, make sure it's for a desktop though. Also, 3.0 GB/s= Transfer Speed 7200 RPM= Speed 3'5= Form Factor *Desktops* Bare Drive= Only harddrive, no Sata cables included Make sure you have a sata cable/slot on your motherboard, if you don't have a cable, get this as well: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812816030&cm_re=sata_cable-_-12-816-030-_-Product Damnit, Ninja'd
for brands, stick to Western Digital, Seagate and Samsung
But especially Western Digital and Samsung. If none of those are an option, Hitachi makes acceptable drives. Just stay away from Maxtor.
i like how you threw school in there "i need a car that's great for racing and casual driving to the grocery store every now and then"
i have this, it's great! 500gb 55 dollars newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152181&Tpk=samsung
