Some Delta parents are in an uproar, after both atheist and satanic literature will be distributed in Delta County high schools and middle schools on April 1st. The Western Colorado Atheists and Freethinkers say they are working with the Freedom From Religion Foundation to offer Delta students, alternative ways of thinking.
More background
...and middle schools on April 1st.
Good on them if real.
I don't think fighting fire with fire is the right path here personally
How the fuck is their literture for atheism when they don't believe in anything.
How the fuck is their literture for atheism when they don't believe in anything.
There's Atheism and atheism. One of them is the lack of a belief in god. The other are teenagers who parrot Dawkins and post facebook status updates complaining about how somebody said "bless you".
now are they being distributed in schools or outside of them? Because being distributed within them is kinda takes away the point of separation of church and state. After all they're pushing their own religious beliefs, or lack there of, and if they do so within the schools its no better than a Baptist reverend or Mormon giving sermons or pamphlets in the schools.
Answer:
The process means that atheist literature will not be handed out to students, but rather placed on a table in a school’s library. This will allow students to pick it up the materials only if they wish to.

Answer:
ah, thanks for clearing that up
Or alternatively philosophical arguments against the existence of god(s) which have been made since forever and are academic You can realize how insane religion sounds to non-believers without being a dick to religious people
Essentially atheism only means "lack of belief in god/s", everything after that is pretty hazy. Although it is obvious that these days you have "Atheist movements" which are not the exact same thing as atheism and have their own value and belief systems independent which atheism doesn't prescribe itself.
How the fuck is their literture for atheism when they don't believe in anything.
It turns out there's more to philosophy than just religious philosophy.
The atheist pamphlet: We got nothing. The satanic pamphlet: Like Christianity, but opposite.
How the fuck is their literture for atheism when they don't believe in anything.
There are many academic texts as well as fiction/non-fiction books that have an atheistic theme.

As with other ideologies, atheism and satanism have their place in philosophy and history.
ya but for like educational purposes, atheism's core beliefs can be explained in 1 sentence
The beliefs can be, but the reasoning behind them has a lot of explaining; such as explaining why Aquinas and Boethius were wrong. Without knowing some more advanced logical methods, they can be hard to disprove (and were un-disprovable at the time since people had not figured out what circular logic is, for instance). Atheist studies would be the dismantling of pseudo-logical explanations for why XYZ religion is true.

They should put the books off the school property unless they want to provide context and opposing views alongside it. This would be like putting a bunch of books of Mormon in the library for students to grab. [editline]25th March 2016[/editline]
I learned about Thomas Aquinas in 6th grade dude
I highly doubt you had (or probably even have now) a comprehensive understanding of Aquinas' philosophy.

You see junk like this all the time because Christian conservatives want to throw in bibles and such under free speech without offering opposing view points. These are the opposing view points, it's not like the district is only putting athiest and satanic literature in their libraries.
Aquinas's philosophy is as dead simple as it is incorrect, get over yourself my man
I wouldn't say Aquinian philosophy is dead, that's a bit of a hasty judgement there, or necessarily incorrect.
satanic writing
I guess that's alright considering the devil is more of a demi god than an actual god, because let's not forget the guy was an angel that was kicked out for asking questions..
How the fuck is their literture for atheism when they don't believe in anything.
I seriously wish this was a thing back in the day for religious education. I was never religious and felt so isolated not knowing this was a thing when I was a kid. You don't really need literature but just to be told it's okay not to believe in a god would have relieved some anxiety.

We were allowed to pick religious studies or stand in the corridor and do sheets of school work. Naturally after a year of this, I decided to pick the studies even if i didn't care for it. Still i did actually go to church but even then questions that people can't answer.
How the fuck is their literture for atheism when they don't believe in anything.
It would be literature talking about things related to atheism. Atheists don't believe in god, that doesn't preclude having a philosophy.
How the fuck is their literture for atheism when they don't believe in anything.
Likely to be books about atheist-humanism. In other words, how to find morality without faith. "Atheist literature" is probably a buzzword.
Or alternatively philosophical arguments against the existence of god(s) which have been made since forever and are academic You can realize how insane religion sounds to non-believers without being a dick to religious people
The insane thing about it is that most believers claim there is a clear and objective purpose or a meaning to life. Something that is beyond existence. Existence which... you guessed it, is seemingly Absurd, as far as anyone is physically able to tell. Only faith can dominate the absurdity of existence, and why not work and recreational activities too, but "in their weakest moments, even believers will find their faith absurd." [editline]26th March 2016[/editline] But then again, in some twisted sense, none of these old-timer philosophers had computers or even knew who's Hitler, so what did they really know about anything?
Go naturalism I say
I'm wondering when the necronomicon will be required reading in schools Praise be to the old ones
