I need help picking out parts to upgrade my PC (Details listed)

At first I was thinking I should just build a whole new PC, but after checking things, I can probably get away with just upgrading my current PC with newer parts. I've used the Windows 7 upgrade check, and my PC can handle both 32bit and 64bit.

What I Need
This is my PC for gaming, and I want it to be able to run the newest games for 2011, which should last me a few years. I can run Bad Company 2 pretty well and GTA IV decently, but I know I won't be able to run Battlefield 3. I'm also needing to upgrade it from Windows XP to Windows 7.
Parts I Need Upgraded

RAM

Hard Drive (This one, maybe? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185)

Graphics Card (Probably won't upgrade it yet, but if I need to I can)

Anything else I should upgrade?
Information

I need to be able to run Battlefield 3

Windows 7 OS

Price Range: Below $500 (hardware upgrade, now a whole new PC), I'm not saying choose the most expensive hardware that will add up to $500 or around there, but what will allow be to run Battlefield 3 and other games well.
If there's anything else you need to know, I can answer.
Tips are appreciated, and thanks for the help in advance!
Look, it depends how far you want to go.
You can pick up 4gb of ddr2 pretty cheap, spinpoint is good choice.

What is your objective in upgrading your computer?
If it's playing battlefield 3, the best option would be to wait until Bf3 is about to be released (unless it is.... anyone have an ETA for it?)

If you're going to get new ram, you might get ddr3, which means a new motherboard, which means a new processor, which generally means an i2500k because they're ++ for value, which means a $30 cooler to get use out of it

It all depends on how much $$ you're willing to spend I supoose
Hmm...then maybe I should just build a new one.
Yes, you should.
You might be able to keep the case and PSU though
Yeah, I'll keep the PSU if I use parts from my current PC, but I'd definitely buy a new case.

A few pieces of the fan guards on the clear side broke off, it's really tight in there with cables and a GTX 250, and the back legs broke off so to keep my computer level, I put a book under it. It's just a hassle to deal with and I plan on getting this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197
