(A realtime map viewer for Minecraft, one of MANY examples...) Lately, windows has decided to fuck shit up, by not letting me run executables anymore. This is of course a huge problem, and I can't find ANY fix for it. (Except for a reinstall of course) I've done a full virus scan. Found nothing. I am the administrator on my computer. (One acc) This just happened some days ago, at the same time my Minecraft server program just stopped working (Can't start Java blah blah blah). I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit. So Facepunch, have any of you ever experienced this? Or more importantly, do anyone of you have a FIX for this that doesn't require me to reinstall all my shit?
Are you sure no executables can be run? Explorer.exe is an executable. Or is it specifically with .msi files. If the latter is true, than Windows Installer is probably corrupt, just redownload it from here(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=5a58b56f-60b6-4412-95b9-54d056d6f9f4&displaylang=en) Choose the version correct to your operating system and architecture (don't use the 32 bit version with the 64 bit version of windows and vice-versa, it won't work).
Well when I think about it you're right. But yeah, the problem basically is that I cannot download and install/run things. Will try it when I get home.
Well, strangely, an update for Windows 7 seems to have fixed it. What the hell, Microsoft actually FIXED something? But I'll revive this thread if If anything similiar happens. Sadly, there was no download for Windows 7, and the Windows updater just rejected the one for Vista.
Is the Windows Installer service set to automatic startup? It should be. You can also try starting an administrator command prompt and enter the following command: sfc/scannow Then restart your computer. If that doesn't work, try reregistering the Windows Installer DLL's: msiexec /unreg then: msiexec /regserver

Well, still having problems. Anyways, due to other problems as well, such as not being able to uninstall Catalyst Control Center, which I haven't needed since my GTX 480 arrived, I'll just reinstall windows. Driversweeper does not work (right click on desktop, CCC is still there). I've tried to search for every file associated with AMD/ATI and delete them, but since Microsoft broke the search function in Windows 7, I haven't been able to remove it.
