This June 22, at the end of the afternoon, five children from 4 to 10 years old fell into a pond nearby an industrial zone. Four of them are currently on the verge of death. The fifth child, a girl, is out of danger. They have been brought to the hospital by helicopter.
According to the first elements of the investigation, a young child fell into the pond. The four others then tried to rescue him.
One child falls into a pond, four children try to save him one after the other and they all almost drown. Hope none of them end up dying.
I sincerely hope they recover. Drowning is a terrible way to go, and it'd be incredibly unfortunate for them to die in such a way trying to save someone from that.

Wow, you guys are terrible.
drown
/droun/
Verb
Die through submersion in and inhalation of water.
they have to die in order to be drowned, op

Actually, I remember reading that the medical definition of "drown" actually simply means inhaling a large amount of liquid, regardless of whether you die or not

thanks for the severely confusing thread OP

after all not dumber than OP
Holy shit, I misread the title as saying that a kid fell in and the others tried to make sure he drowned. Glad that wasn't the case.
Eh fair enough. Just assumed drown means get heavily fucked by water, not necessarily die from it.
I'll fix the op. Will need a mod to change the title up a bit.
Drowning = dying.
I hope the four kids make it, they shouldnt be taken like that.
So was this a live tweet or what?

Saw it on the news and found the first online article about it.

That's pretty much what I thought. Sorry for the unintentionally misleading title.
As a stand in life guard (dark water lake) at my job this summer the process of drowning was described to me in detail. It has to be possibly one of the most horrific methods of death I can imagine and honestly have had nightmares about pulling up a kid who drowned from the bottom of the lake. I can't even imagine coming across this scene.

I'd imagine drowning to be one of the most peaceful ways to die. Once you give in, all you gotta do is chill out for a bit.

I assume it hurts a whole fucking lot to have your entire throat contract repeatedly as it tries to expulse all the water filling your lungs. Not to mention the actual lung filling part must feel like having acid poured in your eyes. Even worse when it's salt water.
i feel so bad for laughing.
its like, one kid thinks he can swim, jumps in, another kid jumps in, etc.
(fully aware it was an accident)

Apparently they managed to slip off their parent's attention and went to fuck around near the pond. I don't know who's the dumbest in this, the kids for staying near a pond while not being able to swim, or the parents for not realizing five children had gone missing at the same time.

As someone who almost drowned I can say it's probably one of the worst ways you can die. The claustrophobic feeling and inability to save yourself + the extremely painful feeling of water filling your lungs is not pretty at all.

Yeah, when I've had a hard day at work, nothing helps me relax more than desperately clawing at the water trying to keep my head above the surface. I especially love the part where hope is gradually extinguished as the lack of air slowly saps the strength from my body.

Kids and water seems to be magnetic.
If you leave a child within 100m of a body of water where the depth exceeds 100cm they WILL manage to kill themselves in it.
It's like curtain cords. They'll find out some way to fucking hang themselves on them.

Yeah except for the excruciating pain and the immense feeling of hopelessness, it's a dream
Ow ow ow I feel bad for laughing.
That's awful, I almost drowned when I was 3 after I fell into a pond.
Its sad when you here about people dying or nearly dying attempting to help people in dire situations, even more so when it's kids that might die :saddowns:
I saved a kid from drowning once... it's painful to see them panic while underwater.. just horrible.

Drowning is different to having drowned. The children survived, so they didn't drown, but at the time they were drowning. Your title implies the the children died.
Oh jeeze, that's heartbreaking. My second thought is why weren't there any adults around?
It's actually surprisingly easy to lose kids, once they can walk and run you might as well put them on a leash.
Still, it's pretty awesome they tried to help the kid rather than fucking off to go play somewhere else.

Nah that's the difference between drowning and to drown. When you are drowning you are in the process of getting drowned.
But if you drown you are drowned hence at the end of the process.

Now I'm imagining five kids on leashes flailing about.
"How many leash kids does it take to drown in a pond?"
