• Best Headphones/Set for Gaming

I've had my Creative Fatal1ty headphones for a while but they broke a month ago. So since Christmas is coming up, I want to get new ones. (~$50) I've noticed that there are some 7.1 headphones on Newegg like these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826279003 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826279001 Do these sound better than the normal ones? How much better are they in games?
Please, don't buy into 7.1 headphones, they are gimmics. Get a set of Sennheisers if you want good audio. You get the feeling of sound around you from having two ears.
Can you tell me why?
Can you tell me why?
Sorry, because you have the ability to tell the direction in sound by the differences in amplitude/time of arrival of a sound between BOTH your ears. One ear alone does not have that ability (You can tell how far away something is with one ear, but only if you know how loud it should be)
i think he meant the fact they're gimmicks
Alright. Well do you know any other headphones that are good for gaming?
Try this out, just to get an idea. Then try with one ear, even if you have 7.1 surround sound.
o i get itte
Alright. Well do you know any other headphones that are good for gaming?
I use Sennheiser HD 280 pro's But the 555's offer a better sound-scape (Open ear, so they have a distinctly different sound)
Both of those are above $50
Both of those are above $50
Hmm, missed that part, bad reading's please. I'll look into it. [editline]08:57PM[/editline] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106306 These should be great for the money. I'll look for some reviews for you. [editline]08:58PM[/editline] http://www.audioreview.com/mfr/sennheiser/headphones/hd-202/PRD_172632_2750crx.aspx So yeah, these would be a great buy. [editline]09:02PM[/editline] Also, turn any headphone set into a headset(For about $10-15 with shipping)
What about these? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826153034&cm_re=razor-_-26-153-034-_-Product I wouldn't mind paying $10 more if it's really good.

The HD 201's have amazingly good reviews. and a $10-15 piece makes them a great headset.
no it doesn't also, senns suck for soundstage until like high end ones 400+ mbmb

So how would you know which one is better? (sound quality)
no it doesn't also, senns suck for soundstage until like high end ones 400+ mbmb
HD555 are gr8 dunno what your on about
I have a pair of RAZER Carcharias and I would recommend them to anybody. They are very comfortable (Now that I think about it I'm wearing them right now :v:) a tad flimsy and could break easily if you don't take care of them. They are also above your budget but I don't want to recommend something that I don't use.
Maybe Santa could give me an extra $30?
HD555 are gr8 dunno what your on about
hd555 aren't good for price range in terms of sound or gaming ad700 for soundstage aka good for gaming and ms1 for music
But far from total shit like skullcandy.
Of course customer reviews are the best way to compare products. :downs:
Yeah, manufacturers and stores are well known for their unbiased information they provide.
reviews don't matter on headphones, espseically gaming headphones people who think they are l33t gaymer review gamer headphones without previous knowledge of headphone and people who buy good headphones know a thing or two so the rating goes down even on good headphones
I'm kinda tired about seeing Sehns posted everywhere. Sure, they're good, but not everyone has the money to get hold of the ones that really stand out, which are sure expensive. For under $50, while I don't have much experience, I love my Fatality series from Creative. Got it for $25 or $30 from Newegg when they had the sale and they're pretty good for the price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826158082 Seems they're still on sale.
I have these. Maybe I'll try to fix them again.
I have the SteelSeries Siberia V1's. They are really good. Clear, bassy and 7.1. Don't listen to these guys, 7.1 does help. In L4D I can hear exactly where a hunter is when it screams. When I use my normal 2.1 speakers I have no clue. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826249007&cm_re=steelseries-_-26-249-007-_-Product The V2's are more expensive. Not much has changed except they have a built in microphone.

[editline]08:55PM[/editline] 7.1 is good if you really need 7 ultrashit speakers instead of 2. You got 2 goddamn ears btw.
Sennheiser HD 555s. They feel good and comfy, which on a lot of headphones my ears hurt from the bare plastic/cheap padding. The bass isn't that great, but the sound quality and the ability to hear things in a full 360 degree angle makes up for it. Just my two cents. :clint:
