It's gotten on my last nerve that almost every WWII movie ever made shows the Americans as the squeaky-clean, invincible good guys, and the Germans as these wretchedly-trained, borderline-demonic cannon-fodder idiots. I'm getting so fucking sick of it, and I really want to find some unbiased movie about WWII. I want some realism too. Realism, as in not a movie that shows an Americans kill 50 Germans on his own. I want a movie that shows the Germans as the elite soldiers they are, not the mindless cattle-to-the-slaughter that most WWII movies show them as.
Is there any such WWII movie that makes the Americans the antagonists, for once?

Wasn't sure if this goes in Films or Fast Threads.
Downfall
Stalingrad, showed the good Germans. No Americans though.

Yeah, but isn't that a really old movie, like made in the 40s?
I'm sure there's plenty of 40s movies from Nazi Germany and Italy
Thats the same thing with video games. (Single player only) You always play as the true blue Americans. Never the Germans.
But as for movies. The first half hour of Hannibal rising shows Russians, Germans and Americans all being dick heads in WW2 if that helps.
No movies come to mind, just a book, The Naked and The Dead. It was from an American perspective, but... After having read it, I can't think of them as "the good guys" anymore.

It was made in 1993 ...

That's odd
Letters from Iwo Jima.
Wouldn't really call America the "enemies" in the film, but it does make you feel for the Japanese soldier, the sacrifices they made, the hardships, and of course the Honour that they have for their country.
It's really a great film, and I'd say it's 10x better than it's counterpart 'Flags of our Fathers'

That film made me cry a manly tear.
So you want a movie about the German soldiers who weren't Nazis?
he's anti-america
Well yeah, but if you say America was at fault in ww2 you might as well say the holocaust didn't happen.

Thats because it didn't happen.

WW2 was not caused by the holocaust or trying to save jewish lives. It was all political in the end. Holocaust at its worst was only discovered towards the end of war.

If you call liberating most of Europe from Nazi Germany political, then yes.
Das Boot.

Both great films from the defeated's viewpoints.

This.
Very this.
One of my favorite WW2 films.
I would rather see a film that portrays both sides as neither being completely "good" or completely "bad".
ya
Rate agree if you suck dicks.
WW2 can be partly blamed on the USA for their policy of isolationism and fucking over the League of Nations which was their idea in the first place. Wall Street crash also greatly contributed to Hitler's rise to power.
letters from iwo jima
an american [sp]kills two japanese soldiers who surrendered because he didn't want to watch them[/sp]
All Quiet on the Western Front was set in WWI, but it doesn't portray Germans as the stereotypes given by the British and Americans during the Great War.
It's hard to portray the side invading to conquer as "the good guys"
