• LAN Connection Failing

So my university internet connection is totally shit. It stopped working altogether on thursday. I'm trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I seem to be able to send and receive packets, but i can't go on IRC or firefox or anything. i'm pretty sure i'm not blocking any ports or anything. is there anything else i can do? is there a way i can see what's fucking up?
Try the command "netsh winsock reset" and then reboot. usually fixes that type of problem. I'm guessing your IP is fine though. DHCP I assume?
ugh, still no dice. if i try to repair the connection, it repairs it within 3 seconds which is wayyy too fast. i don't know what the hell is going on but this ISP is a huge shitdick. also, i've been unable to install the latest windows update. it just crashes when i shut down my computer, so when i boot it up i get this error log bullshit.
Kinda sounds fishy, like you may have recieved a virus. A lot of virii will fuck with windows update and even not allow you to goto AV websited or the Microsoft site. Instead of repairing the connection, enable and disable the interface manually. Also, try "ipconfig /release" followed by "ipconfig /renew". If still nothing, put in a fake IP address and allow the interface to time out trying to connect, then re-enable DHCP.
no, it definitely isn't a virus. i'm 99% sure it's my ISP being a dick, but it could also be something with my computer so i'll look into it.
