I know this will seem stupid, but can you actually DJ like they do in DJ Hero? I mean, I've looked on YouTube, and all I see are people beatmixing two songs, or scratching. Never actually doing cool stuff like in DJ Hero.

Pretty much.
DJ Hero is nothing like actually DJ'ing. Real turntables have a lot more stuff for you to do other than move a crossfader from left to right with some scratch notes.

in DJ hero you mash up songs, which isn't exactly possible with regular DJ gear
you'd have to run ableton live to achieve the same effect
