Space for this sounds amazing with no vocoder. [editline]03:12AM[/editline] Also ambient/shoegaze/jazz/death metal/drum and bass/electronic
they played wheels on wheels or whatever it's called live when i saw them. it was awesome, just like every other song they played.
Cynic is an [i]amazing[/i] band.
Amazing band! Even more amazing live. I saw them opening for Opeth back in 2008. Can't say I like Focus but Traced in Air is a pretty ace album.
I remember listening to Traced In Air last summer. It was pretty good.
I've not listened to Cynic a lot, but I like what I've heard.
Traced in Air is fucking incredible. It is the definition of the term "eargasm." I wish I saw Cynic when I had the chance (BTBAM tour), if just for Cynic and Scale the Summit.
Massive bump. I ordered my ltd edition re-traced vinyl can't wait
roadrunner demos rule portal sucks
2 albums in 17 years? wow, what a bunch of lazy fucks
They broke up after their first album, but okay.
plus both albums are both masterpieces so i wouldn't complain too much
Saw these guys with Opeth on their UK tour last year with The Ocean. Was glorious. Everyone who's a Cynic fan should give Aeon Spoke a try for more Masdival goodness. His voice is amazing
Anyone know if Re-Traced is any good? It came out today.
Listening to it right now, seems good ( will update this post as it goes on ) [editline]Edit[/editline] Oh it's just a remix of the previous songs on Traced In Air. Still, the remixes are very fresh, they sound like completely new songs.
Listening to Traced In Air again, it 'opened' to me this time very well.
Cynic are going on tour this summer. [quote]Decibel Magazine and Cynic are proud to announce the inaugural Hall of Fame tour! Historic in every sense, the Hall of Fame tour, titled Re-Traced / Re-Focused Live, will see progressive metal icons Cynic perform Hall of Fame album Focus in its entirety, along with tracks from the group’s lauded second album, Traced in Air, and more. Direct support comes from progressive masters Intronaut and Dysrhythmia. “We’re not only excited about this Hall Of Fame tour with Decibel, we’re committed to giving Cynic fans a unique and memorable concert experience unlike ever before,” says Cynic frontman/guitarist Paul Masvidal. “Focus will be performed in its entirety from start to finish, along with Traced in Air and beyond. It’s going to be a journey directly into Cynic’s pulsating, vibrant heart.” “Decibel is honored to have a band of the caliber and historical significance of Cynic to headline our inaugural Hall of Fame tour,” added Decibel Editor-in-Chief Albert Mudrian. “Their Focus album has withstood the test of time like few other records, and I’m thrilled that death and progressive metal fans can experience its live power on this special tour.” Read the article at the Decibel website. However I am pissed the fuck off that they aren't coming to Ohio.
Fuck the East coast. The closest showing to me is fucking Portland. That's about 150 miles.
Station 4 is a great venue in MN. I can't wait to move to St Paul
