• 3pin CPU fan to PWM header.

Does anyone know enough about electronics to design a simple circuit that takes the PWM signal from the motherboard and converts it to a steady voltage to control the fan speed on a 3pin CPU fan? I'm not really in the money at the moment to get two new PWM fans for my heatsink and was wondering of you could use some sort of RC filter?
Motherboards with PWM fan headers are usually backwards compatible with voltage controlled sense fans.
Motherboards with PWM fan headers are usually backwards compatible with voltage controlled sense fans.
Done a bit of digging, I have an asus P8z77-LX where the cpu header is not compatible with 3pin fans, well it is but they will be constantly on full power, which is loud enough to be irritating when I'm working. I also found a couple of products which are what im after but they where discontinued. [editline]4th October 2012[/editline] Would it be worth just getting a front panel fan controller? And only having it on full when I'm gaming or intensive stuff like that? Would i risk my cpu overheating? Decided against using a fan controller, im forgetful as it is and would forget to adjust it up.

You're trying to rube goldberg something 4-5 times more expensive than just buying a new PWM fan.
