Getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled - anything I should know?
204 replies, posted
So tomorrow i'm getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled under IV anesthesia (Since we don't have dental insurance they could've just told me the price again (Which is $2500, fucking dental) to knock me out, but whatever.). I'm more worried about not waking up after the anesthesia than I am the pulling of teeth, but I know I shouldn't be. Has anyone else got this done? Should I know anything beforehand?
Also to deal with the pain they gave my LorTab which coincidentally my dad OD'd on for his back pain. Wonderful.
your life will be a living hell from the pain for the next week
IV anesthesia? lucky...
ask for local :)
also that whole "anesthesia coma" thing is nothing to worry about
you'll be dribblin' like a mong
It'll hurt like fuck for a while.
Don't listen to him, it is different for everybody.
I had mine pulled, and had a tickle where my wisdom teeth used to be.
Was the worst 2 weeks of my life.

They're doing local after they knock me out so I don't feel it when I wake up.
Eh, I get all 4 of mine also pulled, on july 10th, at 9 AM.
Drugs are bad

well the point is to feel and see that needle go inside...
I'm getting all four of mine pulled too. :(

Lucky, mine are going on the 7th. =(
Why are you guys getting them pulled out?

I don't know why, but this made me fucking burst out laughing. :v: 'dribblin' like a mong' is now my favourite sentence. :)
It's gonna fucking hurt.

I just got my braces off and the fuckers are growing in towards my teeth, so they can break those teeth and/or push them out of alignment.
You're going to get fucked up on pain meds.
Don't sleep with your favourite bed sheets. Your mouth will be bleeding more than a woman bleeds on her period.
You get lots of opiates. Mmm, delicious hydocodone.
Pop them like skittles.

This.
But there are exceptions, some people have immense pain (like I had) and some none at all.
For me it was so that the doctor said to me at the beginning of the procedure:
"Yeah well it looks like it won't be such a problem, they look like they are easy to remove"
Riiiight.... he said it would take like half an hour, in fact it took him 2 hours to get them out.
My cheeks were big as baseballs, I wasn't able to chew anything, I had headaches.
And the pain... seriously they gave me the strongest pain pills they had, they did NOT work at all.
It was such a pain that I couldn't even sleep and such, I also sat in front of the computer and said that I wasn't able to take this anymore, just said down on my bed and tried to just forget the pain...
My pain was so strong that there were even tears running down my cheeks because it just didn't stop (And by far I'm not a sissy and almost never cry no matter what happens)
I'm sorry to tell you my story but you can also be lucky and have no pain at all.
You might lose a bit of wisdom.
Had six pulled out at one appointment. Awake the whole time, the blood just wouldn't stop. Biting on the gauze for the whole day got real tiresome. I just wanted it to stop. But now I am fine.

A lot of people don't have room in their mouth for them and they either end up messing up the rest of their teeth (pushing them all over the place) or sitting there half covered with skin. I know I have to get mine taken out soon because they're half covered with skin and if I leave it this way my mouth could get infected and it would end up being much worse than if I just get them taken out.
The medication is pretty trippy. When I was going home I was still under the effects of it. There was a red van in front of us. It looked like the van was moving away and getting closer at the same time, it's hard to describe, and my brain can't even comprehend the thought of it.
Oh yea, and you will be in horrible pain for the next week. You probably won't eat for 3 days and the first thing you do eat will be either liquid, or saucy. By the end of the week you will be able to eat soft foods, and a couple days later, you will be normal again.

You're the only human I know who had 6 wisdom teeth.
I'm so happy I never have to get mine pulled. I have like, an ape mouth or something, because they fit.
Your face will inflate.

You can pop skittles?
It's not that bad. I had no pain after getting all 4 of mine yanked. Of course most of the time I was high on hydrocodone, but what do I know.
I don't know why everyone's saying it'll hurt like fuck, it didn't hurt for me when i had mine pulled, just tons of blood came gushing out of my mouth for the first day.
