In BIOS Settings (Posting from laptop so I could possibly adjust as recommended) ================================================== MoBo: Asus m5a87, Bios Version 1402 Target CPU Frequency: 3850MHz Target DRAM Frequency: 1760MHz Multiplier: 17.5x HT Reference Clock: 220MHz PCIE Frequency: 100 DRAM Frequency: 1760MHz CPU/NB Frequency: 2200MHz HT Link Speed: 2200MHz CPU Voltage: 1.3v CPU/NB Voltage: 1.175v DRAM Voltage: 1.55v HT Voltage: 1.2v NB Voltage: 1.1v ================================================== What can I do with this / what should I change? Also should mention: Stock Heatsink with NZXT Case for lots of airflow room.
Well I wouldn't overclock too much with a stock cooler, as they are not build to handle that, I would consider getting a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo before overclocking. Also case fans do not make up enough for the fact that stock coolers are shit.

I'm currently seeing what I can push out on the defaults I have (Slowly and carefully, so not to break anything) and waiting to see what the "Kaveri" APU will be able to do after it's released. I didn't read enough into the FX series before buying, so I'm looking to upgrade soon. I'm currently running P95 tests, and compared to before, everything seems to be running fine. (Used to get Rounding errors, and one time had Illegal Sumout errors. Seems to be fine after setting the HT Reference back to 200MHz (default) and re-adjusting the Multiplier (21x instead of 17.5x. Default is 16.5x). Current temps are sitting at 67-69C. A little too high for my comfort though.
Why would you want to buy one of those? They are not really meant to be pushed for gaming I assume is the reason you are overclocking. So why would you want an APU that has integrated graphics built in? Why not just go for a newer FX or just switch to an intel i3 or i5?

I'll more likely go for the i7 series.
