My GTS 250 is shutting off randomly. i would play a game for a little bit and then black screen midway through. i hear a click and the fan winding down. i have overclocked in the past but have since reversed it when serious fps drops and artifacts started appearing. only way to get a signal to my monitor is to reboot. i've done tests to see if it's going bad and i've seen large amounts of artifacts during the furmark stability test. i don't have the money for a new one at the moment, but i will soon. i hope i can at least know if my system is doomed.
It could just be overheating, check the temperatures. You could force the fanspeed to 100% in Rivatuner, and make sure you dust its heatsink with compressed air.
I've done temp checks during a load and have also never had problems with heat. it runs cool and quiet, but now i get artifacts like crazy. doors and items would flash green in source based games and general artifacts in others. slowdowns in mirror's edge.
What temps, exactly?

Make sure you check both the GPU and the cards RAM temps, and you're sure it's running at default and isn't OC'd?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131381&cm_re=4830-_-14-131-381-_-Product here's a $60 card that's better, if you're interested.
As for card temps, i', running at 37c idle and i read 50 on max load. i have no clue about RAM temps but in the past i've never had this problem, it arose around when i overclocked, and reverting the OC did not fix the problem. i think i've damaged my graphics card through overclocking. and that graphics card is no where neat what i'm hoping to replace mine with. when i get the money im going for a 6870.
Come on people, im looking for some fucking help, not wasted time!
We're not going to help if you can't sit still for 2 hours.
And yelling at people who are not obligated to help you will not usually yield positive results.
The only advice I can give you is to calm down, try and get someone to reflow it properly, or do a quick fix with the oven trick.

Sorry about the impatience, last time i went to technical support on FP, i waited overnight just for someone to ask me a question about temps.

I hadn't joined yet probably or I would have asked earlier.
Your card is dieing or dead.
If you want to try re-flow fine but either way it's broken in some way.

Thank you for giving me a straight answer. I've already talked this over and i can replace it, but i will only do so when it fully dies and i NEED to replace it. I'm going to swap my motherboard and CPU because of age and uselessness.
