Indie studio Robotoki was stormed by the Los Angeles police department after one of the developers pressed the building’s “panic” button. When the police arrived, they mistook a life-sized statue of Simon “Ghost” Riley from Call of Duty, which was inconsiderately placed by an open window, as a gunman.
Jeez, I mean at least we can't say the police force doesn't function properly.
Upon realizing that it was all a mistake and that there was no threat at all, the day ended up with the police playing video games using Robotoki studio’s giant NES controller table.
haha nice ending.
Honestly if I just pulled into work in the morning and saw that in the windows I'd be a little scared too.
What a dick, hope he\she gets fired for pressing it and then not telling anyone!
After 15 minutes, the police came back out laughing about how they had mistaken the statue as an armed threat and almost shot it down.

Why would anyone have a CoD staute, let alone
life-sized
I mean why, they didn't even make Call of Duty!
Yeah, can't blame anyone involved here.
Best misunderstanding ever
Honestly, that was really dumb on the studio's part. Who in their right mind would put a life-sized soldier with an m16 + grenade launcher statue in a giant-ass window facing a busy street and go, "Yeah, that's not conspicuous at all. Everyone will enjoy my obviously not a real person standing in a window statue holding an assault rifle as they walk by in a crowded public place."
I would have loved it though, if the police had actually shot it down with a sniper or something.
-I'm a useless shit

Then sweet strawberry jam covers it's face.
I'm surprised there's actually life size CoD statues.

Maybe it's a reminder to the developers that somewhere out there, some games company is developing the same rehashed bullshit and making boatload more money than they are.

Robert Bowling created the studio.
Fairly sure he was Community Manager/Creative Strategist ever since the foundation of IW.
Yeah everyone who made CoD4 be CoD4 have pretty much left already.

Well they are meant to be pressed.

Wow, didn't even know that, well it makes sense I guess, well kind of I still don't understand why it's life sized and facing out of a fucking window.
Ghost is a pretty cool character and call of duty or not that's a great looking statue
Expected it to be some cheap or otherwise obviously not human thing, but damn, I'd be scared too.
For all of you who didn't bother reading:
after one of the developers pressed the building’s “panic” button.
It wasn't stormed because of the statue. They mistook the statue for a gunman, that was all.

They showed up because of the button but they stormed because of the statue.

Well, the statue was mistaken for a gunman. That means that they stormed the building because the statue was mistaken for a gunman.
Either way, that's nice. Atleast the police got to play videogames that day.
I still don't understand, one of the developers AKA employees saw the statue and pressed a panic button (why do they even have one?)
Also, honestly, seeing that from the street shouldn't cause distress, because when you see a Soldier it shouldn't send you panicking but maybe wondering what he is doing there. And when you see him not moving you'll eventually figure it out.
Or I guess you guys get scared when you see those statues in a game store?!

well, that IS pretty bad placement for a life-like statue holding a gun.

You're joking, right?
Didn't the same thing happen a few years ago when someone from Bungie was walking around on the street with a Mo-Cap model of Halo's sniper rifle?

weird how nobody found it weird that the gunman never moved an inch, almost like... a statue
:v:
I want that statue.

Just for giggleshits, I decided to search up the incident:
Apparently the cops were called to Bungie Studios (the makers of Halo) after a pedestrian spotted a person carrying what they believed to be an AK-47. Way to know your guns, moron.
