Hide the children. Darken the windows. Get out your all-black clothing. Jeremy Clarkson told a South African radio program that British motoring revue Top Gear will not return until 2013. We think this might be because of the London Olympics. Remember that this summer when you're watching Synchronized Swimming. Specifically, while talking about the Top Gear Live road show Clarkson says it's the only time the three hosts will be together the rest of this year. "It is going to be, it better be absolutely fantastic, it's also about the only time the three of us are working together this year because there's no Top Gear on this year." We think this means we'll have to wait until 2013 for the 19th season to start. We've reached out to the BBC for a comment.
http://jalopnik.com/5908661/jeremy-clarkson-no-more-top-gear-until-2013 Oh god damnit.
fuck, i love top gear
Aw that sucks. Maybe a break will give them time for new ideas though. Always wanted to see a tank building episode. Also they always cut their building part in the newer episode and skip right to their finished cars. The building is always the funniest bit.
They were talking about how the (big) funds had shrunk at the Top Gear Production Office lately, so maybe 2012 will give them some ideas and dosh. Can't wait for 2013 now dangit.
thank fuck
I can't wait for top gear to get some fresh presenters, I like the format and the challenges and stuff but Clarkson and Hammond are getting boring and more stuck up by the second and I prefer May in the documentaries he does. There is just too much top gear with those three for it to stay interesting. I hope the break gives them more time to revitalise, but I'm not hopeful.
Top Gear is not Top Gear without May, Clarkson and Hammond.
I dunno if i can live without 7-8 months of no top gear
Top Gear is not Top Gear without May, Clarkson and Hammond.
What about the U.S version?
Aww. Well here's hoping we get some winter shenanigans in series 19.
I can't wait for top gear to get some fresh presenters, I like the format and the challenges and stuff but Clarkson and Hammond are getting boring and more stuck up by the second and I prefer May in the documentaries he does. Remove Jezza and it just simply isn't TG anymore. Secondly, TG relies on the chemistry of the three guys to function. James, Jeremy and Richard have that chemistry and then some. [editline]8th May 2012[/editline]
What about the U.S version?
Awful, to put it succinctly.
Fuck the Olympics, I'd rather have another season of Top Gear.
This makes me very sad. I will cry a tear of motor oil.
What about the U.S version?
The UK edition pulls out jokes in the perfect way, and the dialogue is just perfect. The US edition feels like they are scared to do anything, with a hot potato in their mouths, trying to be funny, and failing at it miserably. Even my aunt has the same opinions as me. And the current presenters of the REAL Top Gear are rather perfect. Clarkson as the bad boy of criticism, Hammond as the guy full of adrenaline to try out a new car, and May as the chill guy with tastes for the oddest things. Dacia Sandero... What the hell!
It's strange to think that three guys pissing about with cars is one of the most watched shows in the world.
I really need to pry myself off the computer and find some Top Gear on the tv more often
Top Gear is getting tired and contrived, I think they should call it a day

Just seems like he's constantly trying too hard. It's really evident in some other shows he's done like Wipeout.

[editline]9th May 2012[/editline] but yeah, he's still not great
Never mention that again.
what about the us version
I've seen bits of other Top Gear versions, and I really have no interest. You can not be a car person and still enjoy Top Gear UK, the announcers are what make it for me.
Nooo Top Gear is my favorite show!
Say what you want, but I enjoy the US version. Yes, it is inferior, but I still enjoy it. Tanner Foust is a p cool dude. My biggest problem with the US version though, is that they do way too many fucking episodes featuring SHIT cars doing things they are not meant to do, like minivans offroading, or a Pontiac Aztec simply being turned on. I believe they do this many because of our shitty economy, and want people to not get all jealous/hyped up about cars they cannot afford. Also, pretty much my only problem with UK TG is that they like to put THE BEST parts/cars right at the beginning. On paper, it is awesome, but in reality, it's a bummer. It's like a headlining band playing first, then having a bunch of local bands finish the show.
Much as I love Top Gear, I'd like to see them going back to making stuff and buying shitty old cars more. Makes for a more amusing show than them just reviewing new and expensive cars. Still better than 95% of everything on the BBC though.
It's strange to think that three guys pissing about with cars is one of the most watched shows in the world.
It's more the dynamic of the hosts that makes it worth watching. They're funny, and, when serious, actually rather touching. And the adventures they go on tend to be genuinely intriguing, even in normal episodes.
They better come back with a Top Gear special of a road trip through Russia, Mongolia, Mainland China, and finally ending up in the middle of fucking nowhere to meet the Stig's father.
i came out of retirement for this? gogdman olympics
Looks like I wont be turning on my TV until next year. I love Top Gear both for the cars an the presenters. Doesn't matter what type of gear head you are, you can find something you enjoy in top gear.

He's a known car enthusiast, has one of the biggest garages in the world, and can toss out a decent joke here and there.
Fuck I'm American, and not a huge car person, but I love Top Gear.
