http://bit.ly/ani0LO
Google is phasing out the internal use of Microsoft’s ubiquitous Windows operating system because of security concerns, according to several Google employees.
This is very interesting.
This is good :)
And now, macs enter the business world beyond graphic design and web coding oh boy
I'd buy a Mac if they weren't so goddamn expensive
This is good :)
Not if you use a Mac. This suggests that Macs have gone mainstream - and will now become the target to viruses and exploits that Windows has always been. C'est la vie days without virus protection on a Mac.
Windows is obsolete. Edit: Having 40 disagrees, 7 dumbs, 6 agrees and 2 funnies, I might expand on this. Windows runs on an old kernel, is prone to malware, viruses, freezing and crashing, has a crappy command line interface. The only reason it's used is due to a monopoly by Microsoft. It doesn't obey standards and in general, is a piece of shit.
*Two posts above* Not really, it's not like now, because things have gone big, Apple will release some back door coding.
This is great news.

But even if they did - and I do agree they would be targeted more - it wouldn't be as much of a problem for Macs since the OS itself has much tighter security. Mac OSs are more restrictive on the system itself, whereas Windows is quite open.
*Two posts above* Not really, it's not like now, because things have gone big, Apple will release some back door coding.
you don't think there are any exploits for mac?
they're switching to mac because of security concerns? macs don't know what security is.
Windows is obsolete.
Ahh, no it's not. It's on 95% of computers. OS X is not. [editline]11:42PM[/editline]
*Two posts above* Not really, it's not like now, because things have gone big, Apple will release some back door coding.
I have no idea what you're trying to convey. Was that a joke or something?
So why didn't google make their own secure os?
Do they leave a few people on Windows, like, for the Windows version of Chrome and stuff? If not, how would they code things like exes and stuff on Mac or Linux?
So why didn't google make their own secure os?
Maybe they'll move over to Chrome OS when it's secure and has been released?
they're switching to mac because of security concerns? macs don't know what security is.
Umm... OS X's security is much better than Windows's. That isn't saying much though. OS X is partially based on FreeBSD which is incredibly secure.
Maybe they'll move over to Chrome OS when it's secure and has been released?
Well macs are quite expensive and using them temporarily would be a waste of money.
Do they leave a few people on Windows, like, for the Windows version of Chrome and stuff? If not, how would they code things like exes and stuff on Mac or Linux?
MinGW can act as a cross compiler for Linux to make Windows .exes. However, there isn't a good way to test Windows applications in Linux yet other than wine.
Maybe they'll move over to Chrome OS when it's secure and has been released?
I don't this so, seeing as chrome os is one big web browser.
Do they leave a few people on Windows, like, for the Windows version of Chrome and stuff?
Umm... OS X's security is much better than Windows's. That isn't saying much though.
It isn't really. You can find lots of articles from individuals who say that Windows is more secure but at a higher risk of security lapses because of the sheer number of users. Example:
It is of the opinion of Charlie Miller, a well known Mac security guru, that even Snow Leopard, the latest version of Mac OS X, isn't as safe as Windows.
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/hack-windows-security-snow-leopard,8704.html
And now, macs enter the business world beyond graphic design and web coding oh boy
Macs will always be restricted to web and graphic design.
Macs will always be restricted to web and graphic design.
Except they're obviously not.
Good news. I want to work at google even more.
Saw the tread title and I was all like Fuck yeah. :smug: [editline]03:49PM[/editline] Chrome sucks
Everyone knows linux is where it's at.
Linux is great. DEVELOPERS
I, for one, think this is very good news. Linux FTW [editline]12:05PM[/editline] Love your avatar, Jombix ;)
Umm... OS X's security is much better than Windows's. That isn't saying much though.
Security though obscurity. Another guy already dug up an article about how Macs really aren't very secure.
I imagine they'll go to Linux mainly, due to all the Google OS stuff.
