• What's a good 2 or 3TB HDD?

I was personally looking at this Toshiba but I'd like to see some other suggestions. My current HDD is nearing the end of its lifespan (I'm hearing that dreaded clicking/screeching noise) so I'm looking for a new HDD to replace it.

That being said, that hard drive is pretty good, but if you can wait around for a sale looking on deals websites, hard drives go on sale at least once a week.

western digital caviar blacks are nice unless you're worried about heat
As for WD's, the sturdiest one I've had is a 3TB WD Red. My 1TB Green started having the idle glitch and it's really annoying and I'm worried it might stop working
I'm sorry to bump, but the sales mentioned previously have changed. I just need help finding the cheapest 3TB I can.

But looking at similar items, there are these ($88) two ($94) 3TB HDD's for sale for cheaper. Not to sound like an ass, but why should I choose the seagate baracuda over the other two?
Get the Seagate you linked. Definitely not the WD.
I was going to link the seagate but I wasn't sure if you just needed the bare drive or not. [editline]24th June 2015[/editline] In other words, it doesn't come with software/cables/nuts/etc. Just the hard drive. But chances are your mobo came with a few spares.
I had that particular Seagate drive for a couple years. It was quite a solid drive (And still is. I just swapped it out to increase my storage capacity). I should probably bring up this blog entry from BackBlaze: https://www.backblaze.com/blog/3tb-hard-drive-failure/ It's doubtful you'll hit their level of wear/tear, so you'll probably be fine with the drive.
There are more problems than I care to name with that backblaze article. It really shouldn't be brought up as a reliable source.
Yeah everytime that article comes up, we have to point out there are a lot of flaws with the study.
Ah, fair enough. Apologies. Time for me to do some due diligence.
