That's right people. The Girl Scouts have firmly entered the digital age, and our waistlines may never recover. Think of the implications: Before, if you saw a tempting table laden with Samoas and Thin Mints outside the grocery store, being low on cash could prevent you from buying a box or two, or five, or 10. Not anymore.

"Now every time someone says, 'Oh, I don't have cash' or 'I don't have a check,' we've got you!" said Kenya Yarbrough, director of Marketing for Girl Scouts Greater L.A. Thirty-two troops in 23 states have embraced mobile credit-card collecting technology from Sage Payment Solutions. The Girl Scouts worked with the company for a year to tailor the technology to their needs. Now, the girls can snap a card reader into the audio jack of their smartphones (or a parent's smartphone, or a troop leader's smartphone), get buyers to sign the touch pad with their finger, and even send an instant receipt via email. In other future-of-Girl-Scouting news, the Girl Scouts introduced a new and improved cookie-finder app in December that allows the user to find the closest place to buy Girl Scout cookies within a 30-mile radius.
girl scouts don't exist in Australia. fuck yes
oh shit I fucking love their cookies, now my wallet will never be safe!
Theoretically I would just say no thanks. But I can't resist them fuckin' thin mints.
Thin Mints? Smoas are where it's at.
You'd go in debt after buying a few boxes.
We don't have thin mints in Britain, but we do have something that I assume is incredibly similar and fuck me they're tasty.
Those little caramel coconut things oh god yes.

Mean lean cookie selling machine.
Good thing they don't operate in Finland. If you had both cookies and Steam nibbling on my bank account, I don't think I could bare to watch.

If you are looking for thin mints and don't want to hunt down a scout selling them, try the keebler grasshopper cookies. They aren't exact but they are really close.
girl scouts don't exist in Australia. fuck yes
Did you get sent home from primary school with that huge-ass box of generic chocolatest to sell? Some of those were damn tasty.
I've never encountered a girl scout selling cookies. Why is it done? Do the scout leaders use them as an unpaid underage sales force or does it go to charity?
I've never encountered a girl scout selling cookies. Why is it done? Do the scout leaders use them as an unpaid underage sales force or does it go to charity?
It's like boy scouts, they use the profits to fund their activities
I've never encountered a girl scout selling cookies. Why is it done? Do the scout leaders use them as an unpaid underage sales force or does it go to charity?
It funds their stuff, such as trips.
Did you get sent home from primary school with that huge-ass box of generic chocolatest to sell? Some of those were damn tasty.
oh god yes They were delicious but I never sold them and ended up eating them myself.
I've never encountered a girl scout selling cookies. Why is it done? Do the scout leaders use them as an unpaid underage sales force or does it go to charity?
From their website:
Girl Scouts of the USA is the premier leadership organization for girls. The $760 million Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the country and generates immeasurable benefits for girls, their councils and communities nationwide. Girls set cookie goals to support their chosen activities for the year, to fund community service and leadership projects, to attend summer camp, to travel to destinations near and far and to provide events for girls in their community.
and they also apparently do it because:
The activity of selling cookies is directly related to our purpose of helping all girls realize their full potential and become strong, confident, and resourceful citizens. Girl Scouts learn life skills and are able to realize their goals—and they have fun! Customers get a great product and get to support girls in their own community. All of the proceeds support Girl Scouting in the local community.
and
Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program girls develop five essential skills: Goal setting Decision making Money management People skills Business ethics

It's like boy scouts, they use the profits to fund their activities
And the prizes scouts may get for selling a lot. I remember being in boy scouts. I sold so much popcorn that I won first prize: a Razor electric scooter. I had a blast on that thing.
"No more excuses"? I thought being intrinsically bigoted was a good enough excuse when the brats show up at my door.
oh god yes They were delicious but I never sold them and ended up eating them myself.
Ha me too then mother had to pay for them heh heh
