Ok so I got GTA:SA when it was on sale, and i wanted to try out the multiplayer mod. So i followed this guide [url]http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1336083[/url]. I got all the way to step six. When i try to locate where i installed it i go to "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\grand theft auto san andreas" and it says

Did you run the game at least once before trying out SAMP?
The .exe is still in the .gcf/ncf until you run it for the first time.
I heard somewhere that it's impossible to have SAMP with the steam version of san andreas.
not sure if it's true though

SA:MP works on the steam version, it's just a pain in the ass to install. You have to downgrade it from 2.0 to 1.0 (the last time I played it a long time ago.) before it will work.

I think it worked, but when i tried to join a server, norton(fathers computer) stopped it and removed the samp file.
