I have this 15 inch Macbook Pro and when I power it up the only thing that does not work is the screen, it just stays black.
I was thinking it could possibly be the motherboard but if it isn't I was wondering if there is a way I could fix it.
Try to reseat the memory. 90% of the time it powers up fine but with no display, it's that.

Do you get an image if you connect a seconday screen?

No i do not. I was told that it could possibly be the video chip.

So i found this and my Macbook would have qualified so I am going to contact apple to see if they can do anything still. I am going to consider this as solving the thread. Thanks for the helpful suggestions though.
