After the release of Half-Life 2: Episode Two back in 2007, Valve has been mysteriously quiet on the game, refusing to release any details or updates on when gamers can expect to see the game. In a recent podcast interview with Seven Day Cooldown Valve co-founder Gabe Newell shed some light on why this is the case."In terms of Ricochet 2, we always have this problem that when we talk about things too far in advance," Newell said. "We end up changing our minds as we're going through and developing stuff, so as we're thinking through the giant story arc which is Ricochet 2, you might get to a point where you're saying something is surprising us in a positive way and something is surprising us in a negative way, and, you know, we'd like to be super transparent about the future of Ricochet 2." The response was prompted by the interviewer asking ,"When can we expect the release of Ricochet 2?" Ricochet 2 is apparently a codename for Half-Life 3, since no game named Ricochet 2 is in development by Valve. Earlier this summer, a leaked Gamescom document showed that Valve would have a Half-Life 3 booth. It was later revealed that the listing was false. "We're not showing any games in Cologne [Germany] this year," stated Valve. While the podcast interview did not reveal any information, it does point to the fact that the game is in development, and that Valve is apparently so concerned with its reception, it will wait until the game is up to Half-Life par before releasing any details. This may not be the news you were looking for, but stay tuned to LatinosPost for when any updates on Half-Life 3. Even though there is no information on Half-Life 3 out yet, what gameplay features would you like to see in the next installment of the beloved franchise?
interview: http://www.sevendaycooldown.com/site/episode001/
it's more either HL3 / EP3, to be fair. please be HL3 with a huge mother fucking update though... HL3:DM with CTF, oddball, grav match, free play etc would be ballin'
Understandable I guess, don't want things to end up like Duke Nukem.
I still bet the first glimpse at HL3 we will get next year.
Understandable I guess, don't want things to end up like Duke Nukem.
it's totally impossible to compare the two to be honest. DN was the worst case scenario gone shit. I'm getting really annoyed by the comparison, TBH. It's not even slightly close. :v:
I still bet the first glimpse at HL3 we will get next year.
it'll be 21/12/2012 :q:
Ricochet 2 is apparently a codename for Half-Life 3, since no game named Ricochet 2 is in development by Valve.
Then in 2014 Ricochet 2 is actually released and Gabe announces they're starting to work on HL3.
Ricochet 2. :v: Nice to hear progress is still being made. I'm far too tired of being excited to actually be excited... Either way, I'll still be very happy when it's eventually released.
Wasn't the 'Ricochet 2' interview like six months ago?

Yeah this was in April, but the article in the OP is from yesterday. I have no idea why they're writing about it now
Problem is they'll change it so much and keep us waiting so long that it'll be impossible for them to deliver something that was worth the wait.

Also, where as DN was in development for 12 years and having been cancelled, moved, halted, tossed, remade, trashed again. HL3 is under the good care of Valve who may or may not start over from time to time, but will never hand their child over to some stranger.
Valve have ran out of games to work on really, so they're bound to announce episode 3 any day now.
Damnit I thought it was new by the thread title, I sprang up from my chair a bit when I read that :v:
Understandable I guess, don't want things to end up like Duke Nukem.
How many devs, production reboots, engine changes, platform changes, and years did I take to make DNF? Very unlikely HL3 will suffered any of those.
Valve have ran out of games to work on really, so they're bound to announce episode 3 any day now.
You're right, there is really only one game Left 4 them to work on
Fucking old news. The thing with the codename happened "MONTHS" ago.
How many devs, production reboots, engine changes, platform changes, and years did I take to make DNF? Very unlikely HL3 will suffered any of those.
It won't be nearly as bad, but they don't want false hype.
