There have been hints for a while now that Ant-Man, the superhero project long, long in development from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright, may finally be moving forward. Wright and his collaborator, Attack the Block director Joe Cornish, turned in a draft of the script sometime last summer, and a few weeks ago Wright teased his twitter followers that looked a whole lot like a minimalist Ant Man poster. Though where it came from, or what it meant, he left tantalizingly vague.
And who is this Ant-Man? Well, for those of you who don’t know, his discovery of the subatomic "pym particles," Dr. Henry Pym managed to trap the particles and was able to use them in serums that could shrink him to the size of an insect, and later swell to gigantic proportions. He also developed a helmet that enables him to communicate with and control ants as the titular Ant-Man. He became invovled with the Avengers purely by accident. He was caught up in a plan by Thor's brother Loki, to draw out his thunder god brother. After the team united together to bring down the Asgardian god of mischief, Pym noted how well they all worked together. It was Pym's wife who even suggested the naming them The Avengers.
So as a founding member of the Avengers, what kept Pym off the roster for the recent blockbuster?
But with concrete plans with Simon Pegg to start production on The World’s End this summer, will Wright be able to fit Ant-Man into his busy schedule? Although some would say it’s doubtful, the director has confirmed that there is a possibility of shooting Ant-Man this year, but was making no promises:
“Things are happening, and other things are happening on other things as well. There’s some interesting plates spinning. So as not to jinx things, I am going to remain spectacularly vague on this. Let’s just say I hope to shoot some Ant-Man and World’s End this year.”
So, we’ve heard it from the horse’s mouth – leaving us all to ponder whether Marvel Studios will be able to get this film into gear, with a hopeful Wright in-tow.

The Avengers should stick to who they already have. Another superhero would just be too many. If they add Antman in the future, they would have to take another one out.
Ant-Man is a dick plain and simple

He can make his dick bigger than your whole body, watch your mouth.
is he gonna be a wifebeater like in The Ultimates?

Also, it will require some serious work to make ant-man (and his name) not silly.

So long as he does it AFTER filming "The World's End" i have no problem with it.
Isn't Ant-Man that superhero that makes himself really tiny and watches girls shower?
Ant-Man?

No, he's not Japanese.
Edgar Wright is probably my favorite director
If he takes the Ant man personality from the Ultimates , it can be quite an interesting movie

Depends on which Ant-Man.
If the film is about Pym(the original and most likely to be starring) it will most likely explore him creating Ultron and his relationship with Janet. In the main universe (616) his marriage slowly crumbled as he kept researching all of his formulas for growing and getting smaller, he hit her and is basically a huge dick at this point.

Hulk, he left the Avengers pretty soon. and hes kind of overpowered, Besides the Avengers have tons of heroes in their ranks, if theyre going to do more movies with new avengers though theyll only be able to use so many per film due to the costs to have every avenger actor on set.

He was a wife beater in the mainstream universe as well, hes just a general bastard in all forms.

If they introduce Ultron in Ant-Man then they could have him as a villian in the Avengers 2, Thanos can wait his turn!

Well if the rumors of a Guardians of The Galaxy film are true then I would expect Thanos to be appearing in Avengers 3 so they have time to explain the cosmicverse with it. Hell if we have a proper Deadpool film by then throw in a fight between him and Thanos over Lady Death.

Mmmmm yes, I like where this is going...
New member of The Avengers.
He actually formed the avengers
I doubt anything can change my view of him as the lamest superhero ever
If they are going to add another canon avenger to the movie universe it should be either spiderman or wolverine
I would rather have them than the wife hitting ant guy and the incest mutant brothers

Except that "loner" is an integral character trait of both Wolverine and Spiderman, whereas Ant-Man FOUNDED the Avengers. I'm not saying I like or dislike him, but he's a much more obvious choice.
Out of all the Marvel superheros, why Ant Man? He doesn't seem like a super hero that could translate well to film.
I don't think i've ever seen someone on a movie be really small and not have it a comedy.
Is this real? He literally sounds almost as useless as Aquaman. Except here he can actually change his size. There are so many better names, costumes, and ideas to make this character better.
I mean, am I missing something here?

Do you have a joke/self Loathing Character that manages to save the day? - Edgar Wright is your man for movie adaptation!
You know what I hope they do? Not use the "Normal" Ant-Man.
There was a stretch of time in the comics where Hank Pym was worried that the growing/shrinking particles he discovered could actually cause mental degeneration, and thus stopped using them on himself and living creatures. But as a tradeoff, he finally realized the full extent of being able to change sizes for everything else.
This version of Pym didn't have a super-suit. He just wore normal clothes, with either a jacket or a labcoat. But he wasn't even close to a pushover, because he had shrunk and stored everything he could ever need to use for any situation in his pockets. He'd throw loose change at enemies which would turn colossal mid-flight and crush them. He had cars and helicopters for chases or escapes. And on at least one occasion someone closing in on Pym was greeted with him suddenly holding a revved chainsaw.
Put that Pym up on the silver screen. And, when the time eventually comes, drop him in an Avengers sequel as the team's resident MacGyver.
