• Completely Wiping a hard drive

ok so basically I want to wipe a hard drive I have. MY roommate has a 200gb hard drive from his old Gateway PC. We want to reuse it in a new PC built from my old one. Problem is that we can't seem to completely wipe it, we got Windows XP off but now it boots to some strange Gateway software. Is there any way to erase it so it's completely wiped?
Have you used formatting software? Try using Partition magic and completely formatting the drive: http://www.soft32.com/download_151.html
Try DBAN Make sure no other medias are attached, or they will be nuked too
haven't thought of that, I'll give it a try. any other suggestions? I read about DBAN, seems pretty good.
There are no other simpler ways, really. DBAN is practically the easiest way to zero a hard drive.
ok, I'll give DBAN a try in the morning. My roommate went to sleep and I don't know here he put it.
I use Hiren's Boot CD. Works every time all the time and has tons of goodies for comp stuff. [editline].[/editline] http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd
