• Vista can't run normally

After attempting to run Assassin's Creed on my brother's computer(Vista), the screen went black and the only message it gives is "DSUB out of range 75 kHz/ 60 Hz". Even after rebooting the system it still shows the blue box with that message. It can run in safe-mode, if you access the bios before it completely reboots. Restoring the system from safe-mode didn't work, I think it has something to do with the screen res being thrown off by Assassin's Creed. How can I get it to run normally again? Edit: I want to figure this out soon since he keeps rebooting it -repeatedly- and occasionally switching to safe-mode
The game forced your monitor into a resolution it didn't support, and for some reason your computer decided to keep it. When you hit F8, instead of choosing "Safe Mode" choose "Last Known Good Configuration". This should set it back to normal, but only if you HAVEN'T LOGGED IN SINCE THEN. (Safe mode doesn't count towards this).
He's already logged into safe mode before that, he's also tried "Last Known Good Configuration" which leads him to the blue box thing
OK, the only other thing I can think of is to uninstall the drivers. Look for: ATI Catalyst nVidia *anything* Intel GMA *anything* and uninstall whichever one is there. This will cause Windows to go back to the generic driver and allow you to start in normal mode. Now you just have to install the drivers again and should be well.
I bet this dude just joined Facepunch for tech support.
"Now you just have to install the drivers again and should be well." THANKS, but how do I reinstall the driver(nVidia)? edit: no, I joined because my friend would never stop talking about fp, and I've been a lurker for like 2 months
Go to this page: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index5.aspx?lang=en-us and answer each of the drop down boxes. It will then provide you with the drivers.
