• GTA V disappears, then reappears in AMD Catalyst drivers
Readers will remember that last October GTA V popped up in AMD Catalyst drivers and then subsequently vanished from future releases. Well guess what? GTA V is back in the latest AMD Catalyst 13.30 beta drivers which have just been pushed out. The discovery was found by ELCID77 over on Guru3D, who after a bit of file digging, spotted that an entry for Grand Theft Auto 5 has reappeared in the driver profiles.
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=385614
I think GTA V and Halo 3 have basically proven in the last year that drivers aren't really a sure way of telling if a game's coming out on PC or not. I really hope I'm wrong about that, though.
somebody is just taking the piss by now [editline]17th January 2014[/editline] if I was in the release cycle of this stuff I would hide the most ridiculous shit into it, Half-Life 3 and everything like that, just to mess with people
gta v is coming no doubt (gta 3, VC, SA, 4, EFLC are all pc) halo on the other hand... im holding out hope
the problem with gta v coming out on pc is that it's probably going to suck compared to IV. iirc it's on the same engine that max payne 3 was on, and we all saw how far modding went with that game. i'm basically begging rockstar to prove me wrong, though. i'd double dip if the game had great mod support and better visuals.
I hope this means the game will be proper optimized for PC.

Lets just HOPE it's very moddable. If it's an amazing port, which it likely will be, it'll be good regardless.
gta v is coming no doubt (gta 3, VC, SA, 4, EFLC are all pc) halo on the other hand... im holding out hope
I think halo will come out eventually. Or at least it should otherwise it would make no sense to have a driver profile for it. They must be testing it or something on PC. Though maybe if it fails testing it won't come out. Or AMD is just taking the piss.
I can play GTA SA just fine without the frame limiter enabled.
unless you're getting less than like 60 fps at the most, there's actually a lot wrong with it. driving is messed up, and one of the missions in san fierro is impossible to complete, as well as a massive host of other issues.
I can play GTA SA just fine without the frame limiter enabled.
The driving school is impossible to complete without the frame limiter because you can't do barrel rolls without it for some reason.
It went as far as GTAIV went with modding considering how MP3 came out less than 2 years ago while GTAIV has been out for like 5 years. [editline]17th January 2014[/editline]
I can play GTA SA just fine without the frame limiter enabled.
Then you're probably not running it at a very high framerate. San Andreas has a shitton of very core problems that come when the framerate goes above like 45 or something, down to some of the core movement simply not working.
I also think without the frame limiter enabled there's a possibility when climbing over an object/fence you can just be instantly killed. It's happened to me a few times.
It went as far as GTAIV went with modding considering how MP3 came out less than 2 years ago while GTAIV has been out for like 5 years. Even simple animation tasks fail completely with an FPS over 50. Swimming is something like 4x slower with 60FPS. It's truly a shit game engine.
Another one I found was swimming became impossibly slow at a high framerate, and heavy vehicles like the monster and dump trucks would sometimes get catapulted into the air if you tried to drive over cars Fucked up one of the Quarry missions that way :v:
I feel that after the first year or so of patches, IV was and is still completely fine. The only problem I've had is that it's extremely finicky and easily screwed up by mods, but that's not Rockstar's doing. If Max Payne 3 is anything to go by, the PC version of GTA V (which is apparently co-developed instead of ported), will be god-tier.
Man I don't wanna say this but I enjoyed GTAIV a tad more than GTAV.. [editline]17th January 2014[/editline] Despite all the good features and details which IV lacked, still..
Best part: you're wrong. The openIV guys managed to get the GTA V files compatible with the program.
I play it at 60 FPS, never experienced any problems with it personally.
Well, then, you're incredibly lucky. [editline]17th January 2014[/editline] Or you're lying.
Anything is better than IV PC
Saints Row 2.
Saints Row 2.
Playing modded SR2 didn't annoy me nearly as much as trying to mod GTA IV, it also doesn't have god awful GFWL I probably spent more time trying to fix instant crashes in GTA IV than actually playing it

When a sequel has better graphics but runs 10x more fludly, you've fucked up. I wish SR2 was ported as well as the third game because it's the last decent one.

OpenIV team has been able to edit the console files of GTA5 so I think we're good. [editline]17th January 2014[/editline]
I hope this means the game will be proper optimized for PC.
They have been working on the PC build along side the console builds.

Boats go slower with the frame limiter off. Better question is, why is half this shit tied to frame rate?
SR2 had different results on different rigs
That's exactly why it's so bad, I could play on my laptop with an average AMD chipset and integrated graphics and get fine performance, yet have it run horrendously on my i5+GTX560.
