The Wikimedia foundation is currently working on a new skin for Wikipedia and other Wikimedia sites named Vector. It will replace the current skin known as Monobook. In short the Usability Initaitve is a small group funded by the Wikimedia Foundation to design, prototype and user test a new interface for MediaWiki (The software for the wiki). I personally find the new interface very modern, and welcoming. Here's a screenshot of the skin on wikipedia. Hey mister, I want to try this Cool. You'll need to sign up for an account at Wikipedia, which you can do by clicking here. After you've got your account sorted and are logged in, go to the Opt-in page to switch to the new theme. Good luck. I want to help out with the project Head over to the usability wiki and look around on the prototype talk page and let them know what you think. You might also want to help out with the browser compatibility checking.
I think he posted the wrong thing and he's going to try and edit it or something.
I wasn't done and I hit submit and not preview fuck
Oh shit wait I made a booboo don't lock this one sec fuck fuck
http://usability.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page looks the same.
Sure does.
What the hell is going on?
It's ok compwhizzi I'll pretend this never happened.
:/ I was expecting an thread not a mistaken thread.
There I'll keep adding more
It looks a tiny bit different, but it looks waay better I must admit.
Reminds me of the Greasemonkey script, Simplepedia, although the Wikipedia Usability Initiative seems to present more features than this does. I can't seem to figure out how to get to the edit/talk/history pages though, which is a shame (but it's easy enough to disable and reload the page)

The search bar is on the top right now I'll never find it rarggh
Is that the sound of a billion anti-change idiots preparing a boycott? [editline]09:34AM[/editline] Holy shit, they are not complaining!
Heh. Wui. But I don't really see much difference....
Is that the sound of a billion anti-change idiots preparing a boycott? [editline]09:34AM[/editline] Holy shit, they are not complaining!
Why do you think anyone would give a fuck about Wikipedia's design? Also, as stated one million times, I see no difference.
I am not going to boycott it or anything, but it would be nice if they offered a choice between the old skin and the new one (or are they doing it anyway?).
Shiny.
I didn't ask for Aero in my Wikipedia. I'm sticking with Monobook.
So it's basically the same as before but now with added blue
Web 2.0 gradients everywhere. Fuck Wikipedia, hootoo 4 LYF

Meh, looks better I guess. Don't really care as long as it stays relatively simple.
cool
