Man claims African land for daughter to become princess
A man from America has claimed a small patch of Africa, because his daughter wants to be a princess.
Jeremy Heaton travelled from Virginia with his flag, which he says represents the new Kingdom of North Sudan.
The area lies between Egypt and Sudan and is 800 square miles of arid desert.
He's put official requests in with the countries, but both are yet to respond. Mr Heaton says his daughter is "big on being a princess" and took up the challenge of making that happen.
Princess Emily, as she is now called by her family, has ordered her new land to become a centre for agriculture.

Good luck with that.

She sounds really spoiled. "Princess Emily, as she is now called by her family" fucking hell. :v:
How can you even claim land anyway? I hear you can do it if you find material to mine or something like that?
He argues that over the years many countries, including the United States, were claimed by the simple act of planting a flag.
yeah in like the 17th century wtf
does he really expect egypt and sudan to just let him claim this land
Egypt and Sudan invade, start attacking each other, russia nukes everyone.
i dont like it when children become this spoiled
Now claiming the moon to turn it into a centre for space porn.
If this is legal, then I'm claiming France for England.
Isn't Bir Tawil a piece of land both countries are desperate to completely disown, because they think it gives them claim over a better piece of land?
If this is legal, then I'm claiming France for England.
Please no wasn't the hundred years' war enough.
She sounds really spoiled. "Princess Emily, as she is now called by her family" fucking hell. :v:
she's either going to grow out of it, 10% chance
or become a massive slut and have 6 kids by 16
Well Bir Tawil isn't claimed by either Sudan or Egypt

By sticking a flag in it
And if someone invades/declares war? Him and his daughter/princess would be political prisoners in mere minutes
Isn't the first time a white guy's felt entitled to some African land.
Good luck, egypt wont budge 900 kms of land.
Even if it was authorized, people like to troll in egpyt, so someone woudl drive there, take the flag, and replace it with the egyptian flag which probably would start a war or something.

Sudan would most likely invade first, ever since 1956 it's basically been a "aww I want this land but I don't want it" between the two arab countries
Pretty sure Bir Tawil is classified as terra nullius or something of the sort
Gentlemen, you have just witnessed the creation of a new Disney princess. May god have mercy on us all.
This is so racist it hurts.

If you read the article it explains it
A territorial dispute between the two countries means the land is one of the last unclaimed areas on earth
Of course that doesn't mean anyone will recognize their claim.especially since they're not even living there. (Note to people saying they'll be killed or kidnapped, also read the article :v:)
Super spoiled little girl, but a super dad for wanting to make her happy no matter what he had to go through. If its a small piece of land that NOBODY wants, why not let them have it. Takes the burden off both feuding countries.
Haha holy shit there are people in this thread already saying she's going to be a slut. Are you serious.
Haha holy shit there are people in this thread already saying she's going to be a slut. Are you serious.
Well if she's an American girl there's about a 65% chance of that.
regardless of her being a princess.
Why are you guys even considering any serious implications of this?? Seriously you guys are being so anal about this and ruining a harmless act. Nothing is going to happen, it was clearly done as a joke/way to make his daughter happy, he is going to go back home and they will never go to this place ever again most likely.
And what's with all the "omg so spoiled" comments. She's fucking 7 years old, and he did it for her for her birthday. Calling your daughter princess is not something out of the ordinary, a lot of families do it when their daughters are young.
How bout we go there and claim it as the property of Facepunch? :v:
yeah in like the 17th century wtf

Yep, neither of them wants it. :v: If they did budge, they'd have to give up the much better Hala'ib Triangle.
Agreed with the above. Who fucking cares, its clearly a caring father who did something special for his daughter out of love, and I find it touching. I don't think for one second this family actually thinks this is serious, except for maybe the girl but she's 7 and good for her that her dad could give her such a nice memory and story for the rest of her life.
