'Gay' penguins given baby chick to parent in China A 'gay' penguin couple in China have been given a baby chick to care for to help a struggling mother with twins. The twins hatched at the Harbin Polar Land in northern China, and to give both babies the best chance in life the aquarium decided to give one of the twins to another set of parents. The 'gay' penguin couple are notorious in the aquarium's penguin community and they have been caught many a time trying to steal eggs during the hatching season. Penguin males have a natural instinct for parenting, in the wild the male penguins share the duty of incubating the un-hatched eggs with the female. Aquarium staff are hoping that the Chinese pair should be able to look after the new chick without too much of a problem. In other 'gay' penguin news it was revealed that the two African penguins at Toronto Zoo that are to be separated will be reunited with each other in the spring. The zoo caused an outcry when it announced that it was to separate 'gay' penguins Buddy and Pedro in order to preserve the endangered species. But the zoo has revealed that the couple are to be united in spring after they have attempted to mate them with females in the zoo's colony. Penguins aren't born gay! They just act that way to feel rebellious!!! Buddy and Pedro? They really named the gay penguins Buddy and Pedro? ... Okay.
Rated dumb by someone named Yawn
Clearly, it's human influence on these poor, unsuspecting, innocent birds.[/sarcasm] On a more serious note, I like the names of the penguins.

Why is gay in quotes?
The chick will turn out to be gay if it is adopted by them.
Why is gay in quotes?
Because you know they might not actually be gay? It is possible that its just their natural paternal instinct. Or they could be gay, who knows.
Because you know they might not actually be gay? It is possible that its just their natural paternal instinct. Or they could be gay, who knows.
the norm for heterosexual penguins to choose a mate of the opposite sex to raise a chick with. if they choose a mate of the same sex, to raise it with, what are you supposed to call them besides homosexual, and thus gay?
as long as those penguins don't join the army
Soon transvestite penguins will also get to adopt.
The penguins might just be close friends. Maybe they don't want to offend the penguins by calling them gay so they put it in quotes. [sp]Or maybe we're all just looking at the sexuality of penguins too closely.[/sp]
'gay' is only offensive if you use it offensively same with 'Jew'
Best keep the kids away. They might spread the gay-gene.
I swear there's a gay penguin story in the news every week
Parks and Rec anyone?
Parks and Rec anyone?
I don't seem to remember any episode like this?

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a penguin, but you don't need to be in the Arctic every Sunday to know that there's something wring with this country, when gays can live openly in our flock. I'm Rick Penguin, and I approve this message.
It's going to ruin penguin family values!
Those penguins aren't gay, it's not gay if the flippers don't touch.
I wanna take you too a penguin bar
I wish I was a gay penguin.
Oh dear, how long until the missionary pigeons get to the iceberg and start preaching death to homobeaks?
I don't seem to remember any episode like this?
There was an episode where Leslie married two male penguins.
To quote Jim Norton: "... I don't know how penguins tell each other apart. They look exactly the same. There's gotta be a lot of accidental homosexuality in the penguin kingdom. [Penguin noises] WAAAH WAAAH. 'Hey, I'm a guy.' 'Ah, alright... Let's not have a baby, let's just move in and get a small dog.'"
homosexuality in penguins and in many other animals is incredibly well studied. so no
You're gonna make a sweeping claim such as that, we're going to need further sources and study articles rather than 'yo dees penguins are gay and raising a chick that was put in their care by humans.' If anything this article doesn't prove these birds are gay, rather, it only proves that the male paternal instinct in penguins is strong. Calling them gay is giving a human trait to an animal. Lets not forget that these are animals, not people.

Anyone else think of Parks and Recreation when they read this? You know, the episode wear Leslie performs a gay marriage for two penguins?
