Hello, Facepunch. You may or may not know me, but I felt I had to explain my upcoming absence and divulge in you the emotions and experiences I felt yesterday/today. Yesterday, on June 5th, I held my high school graduation/going-away party. As it began, people started to filter into the house and onto the yard. It was amazing to see how many people were coming to congratulate me. I shuffled around and conversed with the guests, but soon I got behind and I was struggling to keep up with the incoming tide. I eventually got it under control and said my hellos/had short conversations with my company. Through the day, I made a mental list of all the advice given to me about basic training: -Don't say you're sorry, you'll only get bitched at more -Never volunteer for anything -Follow simple instructions. No less, no more -Don't eyeball the Drill Sergeant -Do your exercise and don't bitch -Don't eat any extra food they give you (Not related but something my Uncle said to me while we had a drunken conversation) -Lick from her bellybutton to her ass-crack and back again. By the time you get back to her bellybutton, she'll be yours. Me- Can I make any detours on the way? Him- I can't think of any at the moment, but if you find any, take them and fucking rampage them. Then, as I began mingling some more, the sudden revelation hit me. Not only were they there to congratulate me, they were there to thank me! I recalled that each person had actually said "Thank you". Until that point, I had no idea that my service to the country meant that much to each individual. My friends and family friends were making it a point to shake my hand and hug me at every chance. They were all proud of me, and they let me know it. On that day, I was a civilian with a dream ahead of him. On this day, I leave to serve my country in the United States Army. The future awaits, and with it comes 9 weeks of grueling physical punishment in Basic Combat Training, 22 weeks of mind-intensive schooling in my Advanced Individual Training, and 4 1/2 years of Active Duty service. I am not ready, but they will make me ready. My Military Occupational Specialty is coded 35G. The title is "Imagery Analyst." More info here - http://www.goarmy.com/JobDetail.do?id=153 I will not be able to access a computer/phone/interweb-capable-device for 10 weeks or more. I will not be able to talk to my fellow facepunch members as I have been doing for over a year. However, I will be able to, through this post, communicate the fact that I enjoy facepunch. I enjoy it a lot, and I plan on coming back as soon as possible. Although met with severe hostility and at times anger, most interactions here were quite enjoyable and well worth my time. So, I will not say goodbye. I will say see ya later because I plan on coming back right when I can. Thanks Facepunch! P.S. - I'm going to get some strange ass while I'm in AIT. :smug: TL;DR - Leaving for the Army today; I'll be back around.
You can't fool me again, Linelor.
Good luck.
Don't die, come back in one piece.
You can't fool me again, Linelor.
Very funny.
Good luck out there. Though it's not like you'll be dodging many bullets as an Image Analyst.
good luck and serve our country well :D
So...why are you joining?
Much appreciated, Impulse. Kybalt, my MOS isn't combat oriented. I doubt I'll get hurt. Thanks for the concern, though.
ur gona get fucking blowed up by a road bomb
You better hope that real war is not like BC2 or MW2
Get us a sat-image of Garry's house.
Get us a sat-image of Garry's house.
this.
Very funny.
It's just a joke. Good luck out there.
I'm glad to see you're thinking about this calmly and logically, without letting your instinctual desire to fight or belong to get in the way of sense.
I give you my respects sir.
why would you join the army, that's the worst branch
If you will make it back alive, beer's on us.
Have fun coming back home as a bitch that takes orders from everyone like you're trained to do [sp]If you come home[/sp] (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - TH89))
So...why are you joining?
Mainly it's about job and retirement security. I want something to give me a head start to accomplish the goals I've laid for myself. One such goal is to retire early and another is to maybe become a police officer. I also get any college courses I take while serving paid for and the G.I. Bill covers my college education after I'm out of the service.
Have fun coming back home as a bitch that takes orders from everyone like you're trained to do [sp]If you come home[/sp]
as if he would actually be in combat
Have fun coming back home as a bitch that takes orders from everyone like you're trained to do [sp]If you come home[/sp]
watch out guys, internet tough guy here.
Good luck and God bless. :patriot:
Have fun coming back home as a bitch that takes orders from everyone like you're trained to do [sp]If you come home[/sp]
^ Jesus Christ you're a dick.
Get us a sat-image of Garry's house.
I will try so hard to do this. Not a joke.
as if he would actually be in combat
Because when I say coming home that implies going into combat.
:raise:
it's where all the marine rejects and people that aren't smart enough for the air force and navy go.
Cannon Fodder. While I admire your decision to serve, I hope you understand that we're fighting a war not for "our freedom" but for personal interests of those in command. That's all well and good, but it kinda annoys me the way your OP sounds. Like you think you're baddass, when there are many people just like you. Also, lets face it, why would you look forward to coming back here after all the other stuff you won't be able to do? Throughout your training are you going to be thinking of Facepunch and how you can't wait to be welcomed a cyber hero, and get your e-peen sucked?
I'm joining the military too. I couldn't give a fuck less about the war though. Not cannon fodder either because the war is mostly sitting around in green zones doing nothing. I'm going into intelligence though so I probably won't even be deployed.
