• South African chef 'too fat' to live in New Zealand
Authorities in New Zealand have told a South African chef he is too fat to be allowed to live in the country. Immigration officials said Albert Buitenhuis, who weighs 130kg (286 pounds), did not have "an acceptable standard of health". He now faces expulsion despite shedding 30kg since he moved to the city of Christchurch six years ago. New Zealand has one of the highest obesity rates in the developed world, with nearly 30% of people overweight. Mr Buitenhuis and his wife, Marthie, moved from South Africa to Christchurch in 2007. At the time, the chef weighed 160kg. Until now, their annual work visas had been renewed with "very little problem", his wife said. Huh? What is the New Zealand government afraid too many overweight people would sink it?
It explains all the earthquakes
Wait I thought this has been posted before but something like 2 weeks ago?
Huh? What is the New Zealand government afraid too many overweight people would sink it?
They are afraid of everything
Immigration officials said Albert Buitenhuis, who weighs 130kg (286 pounds), did not have "an acceptable standard of health".
I know that's quite a bit of weight, I'm 18 and a bit above 80kg with a bit of fat on me but come on. It doesn't seem to be that unreasonable.
Never trust a skinny chef.
"It is important that all migrants have an acceptable standard of health to minimise costs and demands on New Zealand's health services," he said.
The hell wasn't this brought up with them when they first moved here then, sounds like someone was having a shitty day at the Immigration office.
Never trust a skinny chef.
unless it's ramsay
unless it's ramsay
Or Roux, or any other legendary chef who happens to be thin.
They are afraid of everything
Well if your army consisted of one boat, wouldn't you? :v:
These are reasonable reasons to decline a person that can be deemed unfit and unhealthy as it will put a strain on services if they fall ill due to not being healthy.

Picking and choosing between "desirable" people in a manner such as this is downright inhumane. [editline]3rd August 2013[/editline] I think that if you're fat purely because you eat too much and exercise too little (and not because of genetic disorder or anything else) it's your own fault, but expelling someone from a country over it is just downright fucking cruel.
These are reasonable reasons to decline a person that can be deemed unfit and unhealthy as it will put a strain on services if they fall ill due to not being healthy.
We should just kill them so they aren't a strain on humanity, eh? Seriously, how do you write a post as stupid as this, read it and think: "Yeah, sure - there's nothing wrong with that!"
but expelling someone from a country over it is just downright fucking cruel.
B-but muh medical expenses! This one guy was gonna force our country into a depression! Something had to be done!
More countries should make this attitude to decrease obesity. But he's in there for 6 years they should give him a time to lose more weight and if failed then remove him.

I mean yeah, being obese increases your risk but you can't just throw your arms up and say "he had it coming!"
Send him over to Australia and sign him up for the biggest loser 2014
Every damn Maori weighs half a tonne, theyre tanks.
And that's exactly why nobody tells them to leave Don't fuck with them
I got spear tackled by a Maori once in grade 9, then he ran off and hid because his sister was best friends with my sister It hurt
I remember when there was a few Sullies and Maoris guys at school in line for tuckshop that pretty much took just about everything they could grab and there was nothing left

The adage "Never trust a skinny chef" comes to mind here.
I swear New Zealand's immigration standards are ridiculous. There's probably a standard armhair length policy because I looked in to moving there once and I could not believe the shit you have to go through.
This is pretty fucking stupid, seeing as islanders and Maoris are the biggest people on the planet. 80% of the people I know are above 220 pounds, why should this man not be allowed here?
