Four men are believed to have run over a kangaroo, stabbed it with a knife and stamped on its head in a shocking display of animal cruelty that they filmed and posted on social media.
A video uploaded to Snapchat appears to show the young men burning the marsupial with a cigarette while it was still alive, according to RSPCA South Australia who are investigating the horrific attack.
They then stabbed the animal in the head with a hunting knife and allegedly “stomped on the kangaroo’s head until it came off,” said RSPCA Chief Inspector Andrea Lewis in a statement.
Acts of ‘aggravated animal cruelty’ can carry a sentence of up to four years imprisonment or a fine of up to 50,000 Australian dollars (£29,000) under the Australian Animal Welfare Act.
A 17-year-old has been interviewed in relation to the incident, which took place on 10 June, said Ms Lewis.
Local radio presenter Jeremy Cordeaux has offered a 10,000 dollar (£5,800) reward for anyone with information leading to a conviction over the incident that has sickened people in Adelaide.
“What sort of person would want to do that to an animal?” said Mr Cordeaux on radio station Five Aa.
“Someone must know these people because they have not been discreet. They’re proud of what they’ve done.”
Don't visit the source if you don't want to see pictures from the video
Fuckin' psychopaths. Not much to say about this one.
Severely punish these scum.
At least it was dead by the time they stomped on it.
But why?
Hoping the same fate befalls them, fucking sick cunts.

Come on, you're wishing death upon people, sentient living beings, your own fucking race, cause they killed a kangaroo. What they did was sick and twisted, but what you said is just stupid mate.
Y'know it's already fucked up enough for people to do this, but what I really wonder is what possesses them to not only film it, but actually think it's a good idea to share the footage

Isnt this usually a warning sign of serial or spree killers?
Like they do this shit and escalate to humans?
Jeez, i know they're pests out there but this is screwed up.

That changes what?

are kangaroos not sentient living beings? just because they don't have the same capability of expressing themselves as we do does not mean they feel emotion any less.

I think the precedence is more of not following "an eye for an eye" -- violence in turn for more violence does not make us a better society. Nobody here is saying what these teens did wasn't horrible, and a feeling of wanting justice to be served is normal.

I don't wish death on these people but I certainly care more about the kangaroo than whatever happens to these pieces of irredeemable shit, human beings or not.
That changes what?
Nothing, hes just saying that these kinds of cases where people kill animals and share it usually lead to them moving on the killing people.
Sorta like the guys in the 3 guys 1 hammer video.
sick fucking cunts what the fuck
Anything for a rush eh? No matter how civilized humans are, we're still animals in the end.

I certainly care more about humans than animals but there are some exceptions where I care more about animals than a human capable of doing something like this to a living creature for fun and show pride of it.

i agree that an eye for an eye is not the way to go about a situation like this, they should be punished to the extent of the law. i was disagreeing with the appeal to emotion that put animals on a lesser status from humanity. logically, they feel emotions such as pain and fear just as vividly as we do, they just are not as capable of expressing that fear and pain to us. i put torture of animals and torture of humans on the same level due to this.
It was horrible in 'Wake in Fright' and it's horrible again here.
as humans we have the capability of being civilized, and being better than this
clearly these 4 people go against that, so i have no sympathy if for some reason they get run over, stabbed, and stomped on.
i dont directly wish death to them, but why should i give a fuck about their lives if they themselves don't value life?
they stomped on its head until it "came off" and put a cigarette into one of its eyes. this shit is beyond disgusting and i can't help but wonder why some of you defend these people because "they're humans like you and me!!!"
kangaroos are very much living like we are, they feel and breathe like us. what exactly would the reaction be if it were a human instead of this?
doesn't stop us from bombing a bunch of barbarians in the middle east like applying pesticide to farm land, does it?
Come on, you're wishing death upon people, sentient living beings, your own fucking race
Literally who cares though
These fuckers do something like this and I'm supposed to pretend like I give a shit about their life and well-being just because they share some DNA sequences with me? Give me a break with that garbage. I don't care about their well-being, I don't want them to be executed but I do hope a grain of rice or something goes down the wrong pipe and they choke to death on that crap
People from my area did this, something very similar. They got caught because they're obviously the same breed of dumb bogan. It went to court, they get a slap on the wrist, and carry on. It's disgusting.
Nothing actually happened, don't think they lost their jobs or were fined.

Nobody likes a bogan.
4 years? That's it? What bullshit.
Fuuuuuck offff!
I really wonder what's going on in peoples heads when they torture/kill animals like that. (Prolly nothing) I can't even imagine hurting a fucking Kangaroo what the fuck

Maybe karma will catch up with them and a pack of kangaroos kill them.
These people desperately need help
As someone who has spent his entire life rescuing, raising and rehabilitating injured kangaroos, this hurts me at my core. It's easy to say that wishing harm upon these people over 'just' a kangaroo is crazy and stupid when you haven't lived with these creatures your whole life and dedicated your days to saving them from people like this and healing them, watching them grow up and have babies and thrive for a lifetime (the same could be said for any species if they are your sole focus in life I suppose). I certainly wouldn't wish death of them, but I can sure tell you if I ever came across one of these people I wouldn't be holding much back. There's negligence and there's sickening brutality like this, and it's wrong on all levels.
I once witnessed someone hit a kangaroo right in front of me on a back road just a few minutes from home, stop to take a PHOTO of it, then just drive off. I could have easily ran them down and done something stupid, but we called the police, gave them the vehicle details and I got the roo in the back of the Jeep and down to the wildlife hospital fast as I could - it didn't survive but at least it got to pass peacefully in the end via euthanasia. The police caught the people who hit it... they basically got a slap on the wrist and nothing else sadly, but what can you expect.
These guys deserve the full force of the law thrown at them, whatever that may be. It's beyond fucked up what they did.

Someone always has to ride in on their high horse. Haven't you ever thought that people just say shit like this out of anger?
