After Hezbollah had condemned the Charlie Hebdo attack, now Hamas has condemned the attack as well
GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories (AFP) - Palestinian Islamist group Hamas condemned Saturday the killing of 12 people in a shooting attack this week on French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo's offices by two French Islamists.A statement in French said Hamas "condemns the attack against Charlie Hebdo magazine and insists on the fact that differences of opinion and thought cannot justify murder."
It also rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's comments, in which he compared the Paris attack to Hama firing rockets from the Gaza Strip at civilians in Israel.
Now, I wonder if its the paramilitary wing, the government wing of Hamas, or the whole Hamas condemning it.

I would bet those are the government wing's words.
Hamas --- insists on the fact that differences of opinion and thought cannot justify murder
They're just parroting this to get positive with France, so that they might vote in favor of recognising Palestine as state, wich afaik they do not atm.
It's not like they live by their word, actually.

Its as good an opportunity as any for a PR stunt, I suppose.

I can sort of understand this perspective, even coming from them. The Palestinian conflict is as much a political and territorial conflict as it is an ideological one. One country wants to exist and the other doesn't want them to. There's much more to it than religion or ideology.
The Charlie Hebdo massacre was purely an ideological killing. There was no fighting for land or rights or anything - people disagreed with what the paper thought and slaughtered them for it. There's no political or territorial conflict there - it's solely ideological.
Still really odd hearing this from Hamas.
Sweden now recognizes Gaza as a state, and if they want other European countries to do so as well, they need to play nice. This is a step in that direction.

Then again, wouldn't it be a PR stunt as well if they support it as well?
Albeit, with lesser attention.

As GoDong andgodfatherk pointed out, they're just hoping that if they put that whole "kill all Jews" thing out of public eye for a while and kiss up to European leaders they'll gain some western support. I guess they're prioritizing recognition since it'd give them a bit more of a leg to stand on when it comes to their intended holocaust.
Seems like another part of why they did this is that Netanyahu compared Hamas to their fellow terrorists here and they're trying to run some damage control.

I'm sorry what?
It more legit to compare it with when the IDF bombed the whole strip killing thousands of innocent civilians.
Also Israel condemned the Paris incident only when there was a hostage situation in a kocher supermarket.

Pretty sure because Charlie Hebdo had drawn about Israel in the past.

Charlie Hebdo has shit on everyone which is what made these attacks stupid

Gaza is a city though, you can't recognize it as a state.

My country is a city as well. Why not?
Plus, its roughly a little larger than Singapore.

I think he meant the Gaza Strip, not Gaza City.

Yeah, maybe that'll happen if we can make some time between talking about how much we hated HL2 and don't want a sequel, and what a great mod Max was and how we all miss him.

That line of reasoning only work as long as you ignore the whole murdering people in a Jewish supermarket.
I'm pretty sure the only ideology here is killing Jews for being Jews.

There's a huge number of US Facepunchers who think that stopping aid for Israel due to extreme actions by the IDF, and recognising Palestine as a state will somehow kill the entire population of Israel.

Well, hey, they didn't contradict themselves. They aren't killing Jews for having different opinions, they're killing them because they're Jewish. It's okay that way! /s

We've debated this with you in every thread and you've never been able to actually counter an argument.
Other things Hamas condemns: Abbas, for participating in the rally.
In other news, a Hamas publication praises the Paris attack. Supposedly. The original source is apparently Israel Hayom.
Aaand remember when Hamas condemned the Paris attack?
"(Hamas) stresses that its position on the latest events in Paris is in line with the statement issued by the International Union of Muslim Scholars which condemned the attack on the Charlie Hebdo newspaper and that any differences in opinion are no justification for killing innocents," Hamas said in a rare statement in French.
Note that they only condemned the attack on Charlie Hebdo and not on the Jewish supermarket.
I guess Jews don't count as "innocents".
