I need a PC, but have never bought one before. To be honest I'm a total novice at this (Mac user), so can someone please tell me where I can get a computer, because I need to get rid of this mac FAST. Preferably a desktop, (but a laptop is fine).
UNDER £1000 that has a MINIMUM of these specs: (Something better than this would be ideal)
Intel CPU - Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz
AMD CPU - Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3600+
Nvidia GFX Card - GeForce 8800 GTS
ATI GFX Card - Radeon HD 3850
RAM (Memory) - 2 GB
Hard Disk Space - 8 GB
Direct X - 9
Thanks! Also I need one I can buy in the UK, as I live there.
What will you be using this computer for?
What will you be using this computer for?
Anything I need to, but primarily I would like to use it for gaming, and still be running on a good FPS rate.
do you need an OS, monitor, peripherals, etc.

I don't really need a keyboard or a mouse, but to get rid of this fucking Apple mouse would be fantastic!
And yeah, I would just pick up Windows 7 Ultimate from PC World or something, not a big deal to me
if we're talking £999.99 then you can get a beast of a machine, but if you're talking way under £1000 we need a much more specific number

By 'under £1000' I meant, anything, so yes, £999.99 is possible.

Thanks, but looking at the way it's set out into 'parts' I'm guessing I'll have to build this myself, which as I mentioned in the OP, I don't have the time or experience to do.
Thanks anyway

OP, I built my first PC a month ago and found it incredibly simple and fun. I also saved a load of money, so honestly building your own is the way to go.
the only hard part about building a computer is getting the fucking heatsink onto the processor because if you've never done it before you don't know that you need a shitload of force to fit it on there, and it's the only thing that needs more than dainty plugging
if you're using a stock cooler then there's no problems

you could also slash some of the components and buy a new mouse and keyboard because apple peripherals blow
unless it's a chicklet keyboard then keep that
there's 50 quid left in the budget for an MX518/G400/G500/whatever and a regular keyboard
If you refuse to build a computer, get a Mac, they are awesome for games.

Fuck off with your shitty advice.
Can't I have any fun?

only in the CIPWTTKT thread, when advising someone it's generally a bad idea to give misinformation even when being sarcastic

If you're talking about Apple keyboards, I would rather type on a ZX Spectrum.

The Magic Mouse? For Windows use? Gaming? Bwahahahaha
Building a PC is easy, the first time I built, it all booted properly the first time.
Get ScanSecure if it'll make you feel happy, but it's hard to break anything (only time you should push hard is putting the RAM in).

And closing the CPU enclosure thing. That freaked me out on my Sandy Bridge build.

Little resistance on mine, but it was a while ago.
Also, you can drop the CPU cooler if you want. You wont be able to overclock as much but it's much easier to install the one which comes with the CPU.

Oh god, that quiet creaking noise...
if you don't enjoy typing on one of these then something may be wrong with you

Enjoying any kind of feedback is a bad thing? All chicklet keyboards are unpleasant.
I fucking HATE slim keyboards with a passion. If it's flat, I avoid it like the black plague.
