Reinforcing the fact that Chris Dodd really does not get what's happening, and showing just how disgustingly corrupt the MPAA relationship is with politicians, Chris Dodd went on Fox News toexplicitly threaten politicians who accept MPAA campaign donations that they'd better pass Hollywood's favorite legislation... or else:
[B][I]
"Those who count on quote 'Hollywood' for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who's going to stand up for them when their job is at stake. Don't ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don't pay any attention to me when my job is at stake,"

This certainly follows what many people [I]assumed was happening, and fits with the anonymous comments from studio execs that they will stop contributing to Obama, but to be so blatant about this kind of corruption and money-for-laws politics in the face of an extremely angry public is a really, really, [I]really tone deaf response from Dodd. I am just at a loss for words as to how someone can publicly admit something like this with no reprimand whatsoever. How did our government get this corrupt?
Fucking greedy ass people. They make me sick
... Right, because the head of the MPAA can threaten an elected official's position by swaying thousands of people to not vote for them.
Well the good news is this will hopefully ruin their case somewhat
So why is this legal again?
So why is this legal again?
Because money.
So why is this legal again?
Protected under the first amendment.
Good, I'm all for the MPAA going on TV and proving to everyone what greedy, corrupt assholes they are.

No better place to do it than Fox News.
Protected under the first amendment.
wait, how
wait, how
It's a form of petition.
Protected under the first amendment.
In a retarded roundabout MONEY=SPEECH way, maybe.
It's a form of petition.
No, it's blackmail.
Protected under the first amendment.

The First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.
Or does
The right to petition government for redress of grievances is the right to make a complaint to, or seek the assistance of, one's government, without fear of punishment or reprisals.
Mean that you can donate to seek "assistance"?
I love how amendment allows corruption.
It's a form of petition.
what, why
No, it's blackmail.
It's the first form of blackmail I've ever seen that is a perverse combination of both bribery and blackmail.
The supreme court disagrees.
That doesn't make it any less blackmailing, just makes your supreme court fucking idiots for allowing it.

"you will allow me to bribe you, or else" :v:
How dumb do you have to be to say things like this to anyone?
Jesus christ some people are fucking retarded.
He sounds like a Bond villain, explaining his evil scheme to Bond.
We all know what happens next.
The fact that they are so bold-faced about this kinda makes me wonder if corporations really have got power over the government. They wouldn't pull this kind of shit if they weren't sure that they could get away with it.
What the fuck do you guys think Occupy is doing nationwide? Did none of you pay attention to yesterday when we were all over the country protesting at federal courthouses against CORPORATE PERSONHOOD and MONEY AS SPEECH, specifically citing Citizens United vs FEC ? This is a prime example of why. Major corporations like MPAA, headed by former politicians, can abuse the system so terribly much as to effectively buy legislation. This is also why SOPA and PIPA have been such a fight despite major resistance from the public.
What's funny though, is that you're all going to say, "Wow, what a dumbass, it's going to backfire majorly on him." Why? What are you going to do to stop him considering it was ruled completely legal to wine and dine your senators and representatives, donate unlimited funds to their campaigns, and it not be counted as bribery? What are you going to do to stop the revolving door as retired politicians become lobbyists a mere year after retirement? It's because of how many people sit on their asses rather than stand up against this type of unacceptable, unconstitutional bullshit.
I know this is often frowned upon in other threads because it's going too far but i really think this Dodd guy should be tortured or beat up by a gang in an alleyway. You can't be that much of a greedy asshole.
Make a cap on the wealth politicians can have! Lets say 250,000 dollars, plenty for a adult with a family, and nip this corruption in the bud forever. Take any excess and give it to charity.
Also, if someone does get paid by a company, lets them when the logos of the companies on the clothes like a racing driver at all public events as well as losing the money.

Total financial transparency would be a better idea.
That way everyone can see their shady transactions.
