KUALA LUMPUR: Video game studio Ubisoft will be the lead attraction in Malaysia's upcoming video game theme park, which will be built right in town. The French company - best known for its franchises like Assassin's Creed, Ghost Recon, and Rayman - will be partnering with R. Segari Group (RSG) Sdn Bhd to bring its games from the computer out to a 10,000 sq meter development. RSG's chairman Ramelle Ramli, whose company co-developed the Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) in Perak, said this theme park would feature virtual reality gaming experiences, rides, attractions and shows. "Ubisoft will be our anchor tenant, but we have other non-game brands," said Ramelle, though he declined to reveal the other brands. Ubisoft Motion Pictures senior vice president Jean de Rivières said the company's biggest titles like Assassin's Creed or Far Cry would likely be used in the park. "But the spirit is to have a blank page, so we can choose the best titles for this next generation park" he said, adding that the final list of intellectual properties had not been confirmed, with the companies entering discussions eight-months ago. Ramelle said the park was expected to start construction in 2017 and be completed by 2020.
http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2015/09/07/ubisoft-theme-park-malaysia/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed I'm surprised that they're building a video game theme park at all, video games don't really have much media presence here and has always been on the background of things. I'm excited to see what kind of attractions they'll make with VR. they could make all sorts of neat stuff since this is going to take place indoors.
So what, is the joke that they wont be let into the park because of broken ticket booths or something?

Probably at worst, visitors would be outraged that a simple game of skyscraper Tetris would lag, because there was too many people in the resort. Or that people didn't care to synchronize timing with the rest of the building.
lol bet you got to have a Uplay account to enter.
Bet the attractions require an Internet connections.
The joke is that the attraction itself is a radio tower you have to climb.
Only if you want to unlock the resort
-snip, wrong company- [editline]7th September 2015[/editline] Fuck it, BioWare should have been the primary company so my silly Mass Effect post could have been true. I want to kick some carnie dressed like a mercenary out a window to get those delicious red points.
Hope they test the rides better than they bug test their games, that is if they're finished by the time the park is open.
DRM roller coasters -You must have a registered XBox Live account with the game in question tied to your account in order to use this ride
How do you get on the rides if you have to be online all the time?
you have to climb a tower to unlock that part of the park
The AC Unity attraction is like a hybrid of a haunted house and a mirror maze, complete with mirrors that make your reflection's bodyparts dissappear or clip with each other in awkwardly animated poses, whilst the final scare is navigating through the Uplay system. No, the Rides you are allowed ride are entirely dependent on how you pre-ordered your ticket.
Now will we have to sign in through our ubisoft accounts to get authorised by their drm to enter or will it be a case of people getting ejected mid ride because the authentication servers go down
Malaysia the poor little country will do anything for money, sadly
I wonder if one day we will have a theme park that is basically Video Games the Theme Park. Probably never since that means that developers need to cooperate with other developers, like that will happen. [editline]d[/editline] I mean i have seen so many odd theme park ideas that actually should have become reality but it never happened, usually because there just were no investors or that there was low interest. Games would have both investors and a big interest rate.
and I thought Ubisoft couldn't get any more stupid lmao they own like 0 games that would even WORK in a themepark, is this article satire?
at least that makes sense
I'd say any game theme park would fit somewhat. Gears of War rollercoaster, Silent Hills haunted house, Super Mario kiddy rides, Banjoo Kazooie water ride etc.
I wonder if they'll have rayman atractions
The lead attraction is actually made of lead.
