A second person in the United States has been admitted to hospital suspected of having the deadly Ebola virus. The patient, who recently travelled to Nigeria, was admitted out of an "abundance of caution" to Washington DC's Howard University Hospital after developing possible symptoms. A hospital spokesman said the person was in a stable condition and was being treated in isolation. It is not a confirmed case of Ebola. The hospital spokeswoman said she could not provide additional details about the case because of patient privacy. The possible case comes after Liberian national Thomas Eric Duncan, diagnosed as the first person with Ebola in the United States, was admitted to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital last weekend. Authorities have said 10 people who were at highest risk of exposure from Mr Duncan - who flew to Texas from Liberia via Brussels and Washington two weeks ago - have been put into isolation, including four relatives. US officials have defended the response to the Duncan case, although one acknowledged that while the government was confident of containing the virus, it had been "rocky" in Dallas, where Mr Duncan is in a serious condition. "There were things that did not go the way they should have in Dallas, but there were a lot of things that went right and are going right," Dr Anthony Fauci, a director at the US National Institutes of Health, told a news conference at the White House. Dr Fauci said although it "may be entirely conceivable" that there would be another Ebola case in the US, the strength of the healthcare infrastructure "would make it extraordinarily unlikely that we would have an outbreak".
Source: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-10-04/possible-second-us-ebola-case-being-treated-in-hospital/5790432 Heh..uhm..Could you guys try to stop people who has Ebola flying over to other countries.......Especially Australia..... US health officials said on Friday that after conversations with 100 people who might have been exposed to Mr Duncan's illness in Texas about 50 would be observed daily for symptoms, including the 10 at highest risk.
I'm conflicted with myself. I'm certain that we're going to be fine and that only some are getting extremely worried. But the idea of 50 possible cases in America is unnerving to me.
if someone who isn't a nation's aid worker has ebola, they are restricted from flying to the us that does however mean they can lie about their contact with infected individuals if you're talking about not flying the aid workers back in, you should be ashamed for making that statement
Uh, I meant people who are infected, dunno how you get Aid Workers from that.

I'm safe. Poland is so unimportant ebola won't even bother with this place
I'm safe. Poland is so unimportant ebola won't even bother with this place
the plague didn't too.
People are getting too hysterical about this Ebola thing as a whole.
People are getting too hysterical about this Ebola thing as a whole.
Well when we're talking about a terrible ailment that can make you vomit blood to death you bet people are going to get concerned.
Well when we're talking about a terrible ailment that can make you vomit blood to death you bet people are going to get concerned.
A disease spread through bodily fluids that the United States has the proper health infrastructure to prevent the spread of. Calm down.
Well when we're talking about a terrible ailment that can make you vomit blood to death you bet people are going to get concerned.
It's not even remotely half bad as people make it out to be. There are far worse diseases that are more widespread and are more easy to get. Then again i blame my medical culture for not being so concerned like other people are.
It's not even remotely half bad as people make it out to be. The estimated population of West Africa is 340 million; there are 8,000 confirmed cases of Ebola. That is such an insubstantial amount I honestly wouldn't even consider it concerning normally. Like that's still like 339992000 healthy people (of course there are more cases then confirmed but I still doubt it would be substantial.)

Sure there are strains that have a 90% mortality rate but for the most part the other strains can be treated.
Well when we're talking about a terrible ailment that can make you vomit blood to death you bet people are going to get concerned.
Do you lock yourself in your house during flu season?
Well I only heard about the liquifying of guts and puking of blood. Guess I was misinformed then.
Do you lock yourself in your house during flu season?
Fact: The flu kills more people than Ebola every year. PANIC
Do you lock yourself in your house during flu season?
No I get my shots from a nice Asian lady at a nearby supermarket. Christ I was misinformed I get it, no need to step on my balls fellas.
No I get my shots from a nice Asian lady at a nearby supermarket. Christ I was misinformed I get it, no need to step on my balls fellas.
It's alright. It just shocks me how many people are not willing to inform themselves and just follow this hysterical road ebola was set in by the media.
Unless he spat on everyone he saw, I think we will be fine.
It's alright. It just shocks me how many people are not willing to inform themselves and just follow this hysterical road ebola was set in by the media.
Well even then I wasn't "hysterical". I know that super deadly or not the US can combat these things just fine and dandy. I was only misinformed about what the actual infection count + deadliness of the virus was.
It's alright. It just shocks me how many people are not willing to inform themselves and just follow this hysterical road ebola was set in by the media.
Welcome to anything involving subjects; where informing yourself is for pussies and snap judgements are key.
Isn't that because more people catch the flu than ebola yearly
That and the fact it kills the elderly(complications due to the flu and state of health),childrens(doesn't happen in the states where sanity is a thing) and people with Immunodeficiency. It rarely kills healthy people by itself.
I'm safe. Poland is so unimportant ebola won't even bother with this place
That's what it wants you to think.
Fact: The flu kills more people than Ebola every year. PANIC
Fact: More people are exposed to the fluu than to Ebola every year. Of course we should still be worried about the flu but I want to say that comparisons like this are crooked.
We must defend New York
often it is infected aid workers who are flown back to their respective nations which causes the whole sensationalist scare
Oh, I meant normal infected people.
we shall declair war on ebola! that'll show it whats what (sending humanitarian aid, and navy hospital ships to a plague stricken country is probably the best possible thing anybody could do, those ships are much much larger and better equiped to handle ebola quarenteen and treatment)
swine flu
why havent we stopped flights to Nigeria/Liberia/any other afircan countries with ebola?
why havent we stopped flights to Nigeria/Liberia/any other afircan countries with ebola?
I don't know if we have or not. The important part is that they can't just stop return flights of those who left the states before this histeria. It wouldn't be right.
I'm safe. Poland is so unimportant ebola won't even bother with this place
Marburg virus... just hope there aren't any labs near you with shoddy animal testing facilities.
