Budget: $2000-$3000 Use: FPSs and RPGs, namely CoD4, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls series, Prototype, Minecraft, ect. Loc: Arizona, US sorta like farmlands, very hot, tons of dust Next week I am going to Phoenix and going to do some shopping there, so I did some preemptive shopping online and got this so far: Processor: Intel i5 3570k Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z77 GPU: (2x) nVidia GTX 670 (can't find any in stock, is the "OC Edition" the same?" Memory: G.SKILL Sniper 8G Case: EITHER CoolerMasters HAF X OR CoolerMasters COSMOS II Power Supply: CoolerMasters Silent Gold Pro 1000 Heat Sync: Noctua NH-D14 Moniter: EITHER my stock moniter (HP w2207h) OR Acer GD235HZ While keeping it in the budget range, are there any changes or improvements that make more sense?
OC Edition is just an overclocked 670 its still the same card also 2 - 3k is a HUGE budget so don't go spending all of it now. [editline]31st May 2012[/editline] With a budget that big might as well get an enermax PSU, really nice monitor and some other cool crap. Also the sabertooth is just a z77 pro with shitty thermal armor, get a z77 pro or deluxe dont get the retarded sabertooth. and I went ahead and added 16 gigs of ram for no real reason just cause I can. In all seriousness why spend 2 - 3 grand on a gaming PC?
There is no way you would need to spend that much to play those games. None of them are particularly demanding.
This would build makes much more sense and will be perfect for games.

Those games you could easily play with a 600-800$ gaming pc. This is a fact. I know I'm willing to go about 1600ish because of a SDD and other things, great cpu, etc but, I plan playing the way newer games like skyrim with an HD pack, AC3 in HD, BS:I in HD, etc. I also plan using it for recording if I get the chance.
What.
Namely doesn't infer only. I will(hopefully) be purchasing the new bells-n-whistle games that will need that stuff. I personally plan doing about 1500-2000. New games with HD packs will be a bitch :U
This would build makes much more sense and will be perfect for games.
SSD?
I know jack shit about SSD's
I know jack shit about SSD's
it's a harddrive, only somewhat costly and extremely fast
it's a harddrive, only somewhat costly and extremely fast
Well apparently some of them have high failure rate, some are good some suck so I tend to leave that to experts.
It all depends on the type of ssd and what model. Some companies have good memory, but crappy controllers. Intel is a safe bet though.
This would build makes much more sense and will be perfect for games.
Why such an overdimensioned PSU? 500W is more than enough for a system like that.
Why such an overdimensioned PSU? 500W is more than enough for a system like that.
500watts would work but gives pretty much zero room for expansion. I say get a big powerful unit from a really good brand and use it for the next 2-3 builds.
