Whenever I try to press the "Install Now" button, it does nothing. The window disappears and reappears and nothing happens. I've tried restarting / everything.
You have to boot from the dvd, not run it from windows.

You are going to have to install it from DVD since a direct upgrade from Win XP to 7 is not possible and i'm fairly sure you cannot do a fresh install within windows, trust me, having a DVD will save you a shit ton of headaches and time wasting, or if you want you can install Win 7 from a usb flash drive :v:

I'm not upgrading from XP to 7, I'm doing a fresh install of Windows 7 (overwriting XP) using this method. I have done it many times before and it just now started to act up.
It's best if you download an ISO and burn it onto a DVD or onto a memory stick and install it through there. This kind of method that you do doesn't always work, I hate that but I just boot from disc and do a clean install.
Trust us, convert your windows 7 file into an ISO and burn it to a DVD, if not just burn the files straight to the DVD then boot from the DVD itself, it has the upgrade and the full clean install, plus it's impossible to do a clean install of Windows 7 via the desktop program, because in order to clean install, you have to format the disk you are on, otherwise the XP and 7 files will merge and not replace each other, and really mess up your HDD, just boot from the CD and install from there, once booted, click installed click on the "advanced setup" rather than "upgrade", format the disk you want to install windows 7 on and then click install. Btw, if you want, you can get Windows 8, it came out very recently :D
